Joining the channel and ask would be the most straightforward way I think. I kind of misunderstood your initial post. I know there are several different "Fedimins" communities, but I only participate in one that's specific for German instances (of all kinds).

Only thing that comes to my mind is MariaDB and "siblings", didn't know it's that common.
FP3 Had an upgradable camera (basically the difference between that and FP3+) I think their specs are open though? 3rd party suppliers could make parts that are compatible

Yeah, I think this is kind of a problem with fuck cars communication. It really needs to be clear that it's against car dependency.
I somewhat reject the "play competitive" vs "play for fun" distinction. I'd call the later casual play or similar. I mostly play competitive, but for me, that's playing for fun. It's not a decision between fun and competitive.
As for the formats, I enjoy explorer a lot. In competitive formats, make sure to play BO3, as that's what they are balanced around.
Many people enjoy historic as well, but I dislike the Alchemy exclusive mechanics and also like that explorer is close to Pioneer paper.
The F-Droid app is basically a browser that lets you stay logged in which is quite comfy.
