Japans reason for going with Hydrogen is more because of their “reclusiveness.”
Their decision to back hydrogen is more of play to become the powerhouse they were in the 80’s/90’s and to be needed rather than to need.
They see hydrogen as the solution and are willing to put their money where their mouth is. I wish them the best, but after 60+ years of aerospace development hydrogen hasn’t proved the savior it was thought to be.
