Like literally they have no choice as directors legally need to do everything they can to drive shareholder value, not customer value.

This is not accurate. While there are laws protecting shareholders from malfeasance like deliberately reducing share value, it is not meant to mean (nor have there ever been cases brought) by shareholders for companies not doing enough to drive shares.

Too many folks are still having to choose between skipping a day’s pay and taking care of themselves or their family members when they get sick,” Newsom said in a statement announcing his action.

Cool but let's not forget what he did earlier this week. He vetoed a bill that would have allowed striking workers unemployment benefits. All he had to do was sign it

And please don't @me with 'perfect being the enemy of good' kinda responses, it was a true slam dunk for workers and unions (unlike this pittance) and he blocked it..

Quick everyone, hide your ID badges!

I think its probably the fact that there is a type of person you're used to arguing with that makes your type so angry when you decide to visit.

To protect your ego, you have unconsciously going into and starting arguments with people you consider inferior. Perhaps with this habit over time you made the common mistake of conflating your choice of hanging around ignorance as evidence that you are smarter than your average person.

Am i close? Should i keep going?

Your average comment is snark, yes? Do you go into deep conversations online? Do you know history beyond what you learned in school? Do you daily seek out knowledge?

If the answer to these questions is yes, no, no, no as i suspect (don't answer me, answer them to yourself online arguments are stupid and useless) then do better, ok? The world needs people to try. They don't need more of the you you just displayed.

thanks, these are great resources. I was worried about being able to comprehend a lot of theory based on manifesto and what I've read (so far) of das kapital.

Are you wondering who Sismondi is?

Haha you nailed it. i was already starting to lose focus and when that name dropped i got frustrated and came here. Thank you for the links and encouragement

I'm working through the manifesto and i'm really struggling with chapter 3s Feudal and Petty-Bourgeois socialism section. It seems he's waxing a bit into prose, or i lack important historical context. Is there something i can read that will provide this? Barring that i would also love any links or recommendations to literature that helped you understand

Oh and if this is stickied somewhere i apologize for dumb

mental masturbation?

So then this is your answer, regardless of whether you meant to answer my question.

While im no stranger to it, i don't want to watch others do it either. Ill let you get back to it.

Ah. Now that you've said this, you must ask yourself:

Do YOU care more than YOU should about his caring more than he should, or is having opinions on what others should care about a spurious exercise in mental masturbation?

Haha man I'm glad you said it first. I felt like i wanted to agree but i... Just couldn't hang on
