Comments where I'm tagged instead of directly replied to aren't showing up in my inbox.

These screenshots are from my [email protected] account, but I'm using this one to report since this instance isn't federated with Hexbear.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help figure it out! Thanks again for Connect.

Where does MLK fit in there? He may not have literally used lib as a slur, but he wasn't shy about seeing them as an impediment to progress.

Were you a redditor? If so, you might remember r/chapotraphouse getting banned - they had been quarantined for quite a while before that, so they were ready to migrate when the ban came down. Idk if Hexbear is the first/only place they went or just where most ended up, but it's definitely the same vibe as the subreddit, with a little bit of discord thrown in with the emotes.

I will admit to being not the most observant person - especially as I'm in the process of switching medical providers right now, so I'm between ADHD prescriptions and definitely not as with it as I could be! - but when I poked my head in over there, I saw fellow anarchists posting, so I had consequently dismissed people saying they were churning out "CCP talking points." It mostly seems to me they churn out bullying - for everyone to the right of Bernie Sanders (which I mostly approve of, or at least find amusing). And Pig Poop Balls, of course. What did I miss?

I'm sorry about the parental alienation you and your children have suffered, that's terrible for everyone.

Not even my own father cares. He happily continues to see his grandkids because he doesn't want to "take sides."

I'm confused why you wouldn't want him to see them. Isn't in your best interest to have people who love you and think you're a good dad in your kids' lives? Somebody to counter the alienating narrative in whatever ways they can?

the younger generations have more empathy

Some, but not all. My mid-20s niece and her husband are racist. My kid is in high school and is friends with a pack of awesome kids who give me tremendous hope for the future, but there are lots of Tate fans, Trump fans, and other shitheads there too.

Kids are just younger people, they come in all different kinds just like adults - and just like adults, some of them are assholes.

Not saying we should write them off, just saying we shouldn't be complacent about the inherent goodness and decency of youth, because it's fictitious. They learn everything from watching us, and sometimes those lessons suck.

My kid is in high school, and they communicate about emergencies through text, email, and automated calls. There are lots of jobs, especially low-paying ones, that will not let you check your phone during your shift, and they're certainly not going to be okay with you leaving early to go pick up your kid. If the choice is "leave to pick up kid (who you know is safe with teachers), get fired," versus "leave kid (who you know is safe with teachers), keep job," it's pretty simple math.

"ran out of medication" me sneaks up on "functional and medicated" me

I'm a simple lady; I recognize the vague outlines of a joke, so I upvote.

It certainly looks pretty! How did it taste?

This was really fun, thank you!

Have you tried doing a video call with the dog to see how she reacts?

My husband had to be away from home for a month a couple years ago, and our dogs (and I!!) missed him terribly. When we would video chat, one of the dogs loved it, he recognized my husband on the screen and was so happy to hear and see him! The other dog did not understand what was happening and was kinda bummed to hear him but not see or smell him.

If your dog watches TV and does other things to indicate she sees what's on the screen, knows it's not in the room, and isn't bothered by that, I think it's worth a try!

Clean towel, foil potato, can't lose?

I know it'll go poorly, but I'm having a hard time picturing what's most likely to happen. Do we think it's more likely to swing out the little trailer into another lane or will that force instead cause it to tip over? Then it rips apart the luggage racks?
