Good. This is the way.

You are remarkably consistent in your recommendations Jerv!

I don’t know how it happened but somehow now I have two TS10s on the way… I must have blacked out or something.

Also I’ve been lusting after that emmisar D2. That’s on my list.

So I came here a little while ago asking for suggestions to replace my streamlight that I lost… As you can see, I have made some upgrades.

My primary use case is for search and rescue but I now have some nice EDC lights too!

Left to right:

Sofirn IF22A - Nice powerful thrower that doubles as a battery backup for my phone/GPS when on a callout.

Olight Warrior Mini 3 - My go-to multi purpose light, the tail switch is super handy and feels nice. I don’t care for the crenelated bezel but I wanted the throw over the more floody Baton.

Skilhunt M150 V3 - This lil guy lives in my pocket all the time now. This is the high CRI version and to my eyes is the nicest light for up close work. The moonlight mode is also the dimmest which is important to me. Nice build quality and UI as well.

Olight Perun 2 Mini NW - New light for my helmet, I haven’t tested it in the field yet but the beam is nice and it’s a big improvement over my old black diamond light on my helmet.

Olight iR2 Pro - not much to say on this one, it was the free gift with my other Olights, it lives on my keychain now, it’s pretty handy with the USB C charging and two modes.

Lumintop IYP365 - This is the light to replace my streamlight stylus. It lives on my chest pack and is primarily used for first aid. The low mode is low enough that I feel comfortable using it for checking pupil dilation. The included diffuser is handy too. I got the NiteCore MT06MD but I found it uncomfortably bright on the lowest setting, so I returned it in favour of the Lumintop.

I also live in rural Canada and I'm part of search and rescue so I understand the use case for SMS, if you've only got a feature phone and SMS is the only way to communicate, so be it. That said, messengers like Signal and iMessage are still strictly better from a security standpoint and for day to day usage for most people. It has nothing to do with tribalism.

I have an iPhone... For me if I see the green bubbles that means that the messages are SMS which is insecure and antiquated. I use iMessage and Signal because they are more secure and allow for sending rich media like photos and videos without worrying about MMS and SMS. I have massive amounts of data, why the heck would I use SMS to send messages? It has nothing to do with hating Android, it's more to do with SMS being hot garbage.

To clarify, if you only have SMS, that's fine I don't care and it doesn't affect our relationship, but given the choice I will always default to an end to end encrypted messengers.

I’ve used a lot of flashlights over the years, from the old D cell maglite to an assortment of climbing headlamps etc.

I just received my Skilhunt M150 and I feel like all the other flashlights I’ve used in the past are just toys…

I have a Sofirn IF22A and a NiteCore MT06MDon the was as well. What have I gotten myself into?

Hi there, I’m glad to see a flashlight community here! I lost my trusty stylus on a call and I’m hoping that y’all could recommend a worthy replacement. I would happily purchase the same but I’m wondering if there are some other options that I might be missing out on.

Rugged and easy operation are key requirements. If it’s very bright it would be handy to have a low intensity setting for checking for pupil dilation on a subject.

I live in BC and wildfires are a part of life out here. That said, they’ve been getting larger and more frequent, especially over the last couple years. Now we have El Niño on the way too, I can only imagine how bad it will be next year.

It’s wild to me that people still refuse to make the connection between climate change and these events.
