It's real good man. D2 I found had a great loot feeling, but the general signposting of where to go was shit. But this was mostly because they didn't update D2 in the remastered version much because I guess they knew people would be pissed if they updated it too much.

D4 was initially epic with the bois, but the slow grind and analysis paralysis of loot was annoying in the end. So much garbage loot with no filters and way too many affixes on weapons, you sit there for ages wondering if that bit of loot is better...or worse?? Or maybe good for that thing, but not the other. Urgh, and the legendary aspect thing was annoying to manage (shit, I found a weapon, but uh oh, I don't have an aspect in reserve to apply to this cool new weapon, so my build will be fucked??? yay!)

PoE has that D2 loot feeling, power growth and SPEED that D4 simply can't have due to level scaling. Honestly, why is a group of minions giving me a hard time in D4 when in PoE I can blast a screen worth of little shits in one go? Super fun.

I don't mind being a shit character when i'm level 10, NOT 70. It was a pain post campaign in D4, I should be a god not some weak maggot after I saved Sanctuary lol.

Give it a shot, it's free :) I think it's due an update in August [new league].

I’m so happy to see so many upvotes in such a short amount of time. ❤️

Big time. I’ve just cracked act 7 so I’m loving all the shit that keeps coming my way. Game is stacked!

Totally me. I have a sealed bottle which keeps it chill, but it still gets that jank to it - why dammit.

I’m browsing on Hot and I’ve seen so many popping up, it’s great.

I’m glad you shed light on this situation.

I prefer Memmy right now but wefwef is just as awesome.

One major thing I’d like is tapping the top bar to return to the top after scrolling down.

One minor, which no app has yet is auto marking as read as you scroll past posts (no upvoting, no image opening or opening comments).

Just pure, lazy scrolling like Apollo

+1 for PoE. Also new to the game after finishing with D4.

Only try it when you’re done with the Diablo experimenting and you want a LOT more stuff to chew on.

Unlike Diablo you can make your character exactly how you want it, with very few limiting factors (as far as I can tell)

There’s a lot in the game to keep you busy that’s for sure.

I'm still getting to grips with what's a community to my main instance (lemmy.world). I think this is on L.W?!

Anyways, I've never been hooked by an ARPG. I enjoyed D2R with a buddy last year, but I absolutely hated the baked in lack of QoL things, and I never knew where to go. Mostly I was trailing behind my sorc friend who would be zipping off, grabbing objectives, progressing the 'quests'. It was a bit of a whirlwind, and it didn't really sink in at all.

I loved the loot and the sheer randomness of stuff, but having to make a set build was kind of shit. Not being able to re-roll freely.......the hell man?

#Diablo 4

Fast forward to recently, man D4 really added some cool stuff. Infinite potions more or less. It was a great time doing the story and hopping in with friends and enjoying the improvements over D2. But sadly the cracks began to show when we got to the post-campaign 'content'.

Spongy level scaled enemies, no power fantasy; and playing druid was painful. 'I neeeed more spirit' as I bash enemies with my basic attack. There's no reason minions should be so strong dammit lol.

Overall D4 was very good, and I think it'll get to a good place eventually, especially with the open world. I kinda hate the reliance of aspects and having that anxiety of not having a replacement standing by for the next weapon/armor. The town layouts of services too really grinded on me in the end. Shoutout to Cerrigar being the best town.

We got bored of just doing dungeons for the sake of it, but I still wanted some more ARPG goodness. And yep, meta builds or bust AGAIN just like D2, argh!

#Enter POE...

I have actually dabbled a bit in POE before, but not a lot. This time, I was ready to learn and absorb. It's got me hook line and sinker this time around. I am blown away by the sheer content, and build freedom. Somehow...I think I've done a good witch build so far! Most of my shit is spells, so they scale up, provided I keep up my spell damage % on gear, and casting speed passives/supports.

My lightning tendrils in Act 6 do like...30,000 or so damage and i'm largely one tapping with bursts of Arc and Tendrils, it's an amazing power fantasy and it's satisfying to screen clear coming from Diablo 4 where every engagement is a BORING slog, honestly. It's the opposite effect, and I fucking love it :)

I've always liked lightning builds, so i've not really struggled with the passive tree yet, everything makes sense and I haven't encountered any major problems. I'm making my character how I want and it's amazing I have that ability to do so.

These HEISTS?! The mining thing, what the hell? So cool. Not quite sure what these expedition things are with the TNT placing, and detonating is. But I love the drip fed random content along the way as I'm doing the story.

I know POE's had 10 years of content, but what a massive shock to experience this stuff for the first time. I thought the people with multi-thousand hours were just running the same campaign maps and bosses like D2. I was very wrong.

Just gushing, and enjoying Lemmy in the post reddit world. Loving the game, and hope to see this community start firing off.

Cheers.

Not the community creator, but happy to see the btcc community already up, as I was going to create it myself.

Kind of a shit post, but given the coming 3PA deadline, I thought it appropriate! It’s like playing an MDickie game….Kbin, lemmy.world…where will we go next?

I'm on the hunt for new PC games for mrs simo to enjoy as shes going through an ADHD phase of not enjoying anything. Her favourite is Bloons TD 6 (2600 hours!).

She doesn't really like heavy games like FPS, RTS, ARPGs or anything toooo involved. She'll try something for 10 minutes and that's the window for hit or miss [sadly in most cases].

Historically old school Pokemon games and those RPGmaker style games are good if they are well put together and have a nice story (such as Little Witch in the woods, Cult of the Lamb). Siralim Ultimate was good for a while - hopefully that gives an idea of rough genres for suggestions.

Oh and we had a good little run with Vampire Survivors and Army of Ruin too.

For whatever reason Bloons TD6 was a massive hit, and she recently got bluestacks to try some PVZ 2 again, as that was her previous 'bloons' hook. I think it's the nature of the Games as a service, with the weekly battles n unlocks and stuff. Granted, that game is really good too.

Hoping other people who struggle to 'hook' into various games on PC, or have similar ADHD spouses who go through 'ahhh i dunno' phases of gaming can shed some random offbeat suggestions.

Random mention: She loved elden ring! The exploring n shit was cool. Tempted to get Games Pass for Fable 2 streaming, but I think our internet will be shit and it'll be a total bust.

Not sure why this is happening, it's been like it since I came over and it's quite annoying. No matter if it's on All and filtered by Hot,Active etc, every so often new posts will auto feed right at the top and shift everything down.

Is this a bug on my end, or intended functionality? It sucks :)
