the community over there was started by bankers after the successful takedown of antiwork as a means of coopting the movement and deradicalising it

I'm not sure about that - I was part of the original antiwork sub, but it was clear that the sub consisted of a mix of folks - there were the "literal" antiwork folks who want to abolish paid labor, and people who wanted better wage equality. After the whole Doreen incident, the latter split off into workreform.

This is ridiculous. The American Dream is dead - destroyed by the billionaire class, who made it across the bridge and then immediately scuttled the bridge behind them.

there's no real "approval" needed, being stuck on "subscribe pending" is a bug with federation, you'll still get new posts and comments!

I see an error saying I've been blocked - i never had that problem with fedisearch!

that looks useless, it just shows me an error saying I've been blocked lol!

yes, unfortunately finding, joining and linking to other communities across instances kinda blows now, but given how new lemmy is i think that will improve over time!

beehaw is kind of a weird oddity in the fediverse. Most of the other main instances are federated.

I personally just view beehaw as a separate thing - I block their communities so I don't accidentally participate, and I use lemmy.world as my home instance to browse everything else. works fine for me. I see you're on lemm.ee, which is also a low-drama instance that federates with everyone, so you don't really have any issues there :)

With inflation the way it is, this is absolutely needed. Good on them for striking!

Glad to hear that it worked for the Westin workers. Hope this puts pressure on the rest of the hotel chains to actually listen to their demands!

Not the same - I started using lemmy after the reddit changes and thought this place deserves a workreform community as well!

Good for them. Their working conditions are horrible, I can't imagine not having AC in the truck in summer. And UPS made so much money over COVID.

That's just medieval.
