He's just another CEO tbh, but the only shred of credit I'm willing to give him is that he's not a profit ghoul by total choice, that would be the bill passed in 1970 in retaliation for the largest wildcat strike in US history. Nixon put the USPS into billions of debt.

Hmm, I wonder if things like this could ever spark violence.

Then I apologize for assuming you had the full context before engaging the way I did. You deserved to get a chance to understand before you got dog piled.

this is the internet and courtesy is generally considered a bad thing

I want to be the change with this perspective, so I hope that only the downvotes were the outcome of this misunderstanding!

Are you saying there aren't a lot of murderers in prisons?

Definitely not. Simply that prisons generally aren't filled with a majority of murderers.

people really think murderers only get caught if they only murder rich people?

You're getting downvoted because this a bizarre extrapolation from my original comment. A ghost gun with a silencer, very little unintentional evidence, and a clean getaway is a hell of a case to crack. They barely managed it even with all the resources they used, and I have my doubts that Luigi is just a scapegoat. If you or I were killed like this, our murderer would not be caught.

I think 3 can still be reasonable, if they all have different focuses and don't connect with each other. An ancient Bernie sticker, a Solidarity Forever sticker, and a Gender Justice sticker all on the same car is pretty reasonable

That's still part of the problem with the justice system and prisons generally aren't filled with murderers.

Unions are getting completely overwhelmed with the number of active organizing efforts going on in the country.

If you were killed in the same manner as Thompson, your killer would never be found.

That will depend entirely on how much the US gives support to the theocratic dictator on their rise to power. Don't forget that the current hostile regime was backed by the US.

Strange how they were completely incapable of understanding this concept when it comes to right wing violence.

And my axe!

I made an assumption that people would know what lebensraum was and the context that it was an essential part to the fascist Nazi party. I also assumed people would understand why both it and Israel's actions are wrong and evil.

Taken from a Press Release by the group:

LONDON, 1 July 2024—Two young trans activists scaled the NHS England’s London headquarters at 133–135 Waterloo Road in London on Friday to stage a protest and have remained there ever since. The group, now made up of seven young protesters, all 18 or under, has one simple message: Trans Kids Deserve Better: we are not pawns for your politics.

The powerful direct action has been organised by the “Trans Kids Deserve Better” network, which is calling for: access to gender affirming healthcare for trans children and young people, protection from discrimination and disrespect in their daily lives and the right to be heard in all decisions that affect them.

Their protest comes in the wake of the government using emergency powers to ban all access to puberty blockers in the UK, a move that was supported by Labour’s Wes Streeting, likely to be the next Secretary of State for Health. It also comes in the context of a General Election campaign where trans people and trans youth have been used as ‘culture war’ talking points, but not allowed to speak for themselves.

“We are staging this protest to remind politicians and voters that we’re real kids, not just political talking points. We may not have a vote, but it is our lives that are at stake,” said one of the activists staging the protest. “Gender-affirming healthcare is a matter of life and death for us, and we hope that our actions will bring awareness to this fact and encourage others to fight for the healthcare and dignity that we are so shamefully denied.”

[PSA] Minnesota workers: there have been worker-friendly updates to Earned Sick and Safe Time

The new bill primarily clarifies rules that were a bit vague, but it also has new changes that will substantially improve life-work balance.

  • ESST can be used in at least 15 minute increments and cannot be required to use more than four-hour increments
  • Qualifying workers were expanded to people hired with an expectation of working 80 hours in a year, rather than actual hours worked. Some jobs still exempted
  • ESST usage has expanded to bereavement
  • ESST rules for use are expanded to all paid time off
  • Employers that do not provide ESST must pay the worker for twice the amount they were supposed to get in ESST
