Is the next goal to try working towards a national ban?

Yes.

Are they stupid enough to not realize that would be political suicide?

Yes.

Some have expressed an interest in targeting contraception next. Keep in mind, many believe in replacement theory and want to restrict immigration (of people of color), which is the only thing currently keeping our replacement rate positive. So the fulfillment of their dream to eliminate immigration without also tanking our future economy is basically by forcing people to have babies. Ideally white babies, but they're probably not too picky on who is picking crops, flipping burgers, and building cars, because they can also keep gerrymandering the shit out of states to keep minorities from gaining proportional voting power.

Why should they not? They posted an inquiry, looking for advice. That is their reason for posting.

They do not owe personal information beyond what is required to answer the question. And typically, with regards to anything resembling a legal matter, the less information posted publicly, the better.

I mean, good journalism costs money and journalists deserve a living wage. Everyone hates ads, so what does that leave reputable sites that don't want to just be shills?

Maybe for that specific article it's ironic, but it's not like the Wired web page is bothering to check what the headline it's serving is before asking readers to sign up.

"Free and open internet" still costs a ton of money. Not everyone is able, nor should be expected to volunteer their time to provide content or services to others for free.

Exactly! And it's not like crossover content doesn't happen between publishers already without blockchain. Look at Fortnite. All it takes is a promo code.

The belief amongst some is that reddit basically did a rug pull. People could and would buy these crypto points with real money, so reddit likely made money. Odds are it just was not successful outside of niche subreddits, hence:

Its newer Contributor Program, which rewards users with actual money from the Reddit gold and karma they accrue, is one such example. "Part of why we're moving past this product is that we've already launched, or are actively investing in, several products that accomplish what the Community Points program was trying to accomplish, while being easier to adopt and understand," Reddit’s director of consumer and product communications, Tim Rathschmidt, told TechCrunch.

Crypto also hopefully seems to be on the decline, and it's possible Reddit did not want to appear to be behind the times.

Ford C-suite took home $71 million in 2021 (most recent year I could find data). They could give each worker a $1000+ bonus and still walk away with $10 million. Not that $1000 is enough for each worker, but just to illustrate that there is a ton of money floating around, they just don't want the workers to have it. It's not future investment they're worried about (they get massive tax breaks for all these new facilities, and new car designs are all being done by salaried white collar engineers anyway), it's shareholder profits. Ford doesn't want to lower their reported annual profits by increasing their worker costs.

Fuck shareholders, and fuck the C-suite for looking out for their interests instead of their workers. They don't actually produce anything. The workers are the real company asset here, not some Wall Street goon who bought stock.

I mean, kinda? They're also heavily descended from 7th Century AD Arabic conquerors, but yes, many other natives may have adopted Arabic culture, language and religion at that time.

But Jewish culture is also derived from the Canaanite culture, with arguably more overlap. Jewish culture in the region can be traced back to at least the 9th Century BC, with the literal Kingdom of Israel. So the argument of "Well who was there first?" does not necessarily favor the Palestinians over the Israelis.

This has always been happening though. It's not like the Ottomans took over the region peacefully. It's been conquered and re-conquered by Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans...

Escalators vs elevators is maybe a good example of the concept in theory, but in practice escalators are the worse design of the two, and they don't necessarily compete anyway.

Escalators are either slightly faster stairs or stairs for the sedentary. Their only practical advantage is clearing high-volume areas quickly, like transit stations. But otherwise, they are worse stairs - costly, narrow, power consuming mechanical stairs that require regular maintenance. Elevators are an accessibility feature. They allow easy movement of the handicapped and large cargo, and can move many, many floors quickly. Nobody is taking escalators to the 57th floor of a building.

Not to say escalators don't have that advantage of failing in a useful way, just that they don't do anything stairs don't already do. Nothing else really does what elevators do.

Better example may be, say, ebikes or hybrid cars, provided they don't lock up the conventional drive system in the event the electric portion fails.

That's been happening for the last 5,000 years in that region though, since the Canaanites.

It's not like the Palestinians were the first there.

And where these are most popular, the police would choose not to do anything anyway.

No, why would we?

It's possible to think both the Israeli government and Hamas are trash.

I feel like if Hamas knows what's good for them, they'll return any foreign nationals they have ASAP.

Beef with Israel is one thing, but "accidentally" kidnapping people from foreign countries you ostensibly want sympathy for is a bad move.
