The UK, led by absolute donkeys, probably thinks just because they speak with a different accent from the USians means Chinese state hackers aren't salivating at redoing what they did, which is to exploit the government's own backdoor to telcos.

Worse, they made me support Apple.

@[email protected] Uhh.... I am afraid I did not write what you claim. Odd how you just put words in my mouth. Very strange behaviour.

@[email protected] Also, what I am doing is probably even worse for security. I am literally installing add-ons just to get dark theme back because I don't want to be uncomfortable reading my screen.

So much theory crafting that ends up being just annoying and useless. Reminds me of that guy who said sorry for forcing symbols and special characters on passwords because he didn't understand probability theory.

I really appreciate Arknight's current sidequest that allows me to fuck up bankers. Really relevant. Much cathartic. #Arknights #Gaming

@[email protected] Yeah. I get it. But to turn off the feature entirely in the browser to even do that is pretty annoying.

I should have the freedom to choose to have dark themes on.

@[email protected] Ideally, we wouldn't have needed to move. But capitalist dipshits always find a way to make us do things that inconvenience us out of necessity.

I trust my browser so much for personal and professional work it's not even worth joking about when a company blames the user for "confusion" after removing statements about not selling off user data.

There is the legalese, and then there is the intent. As an anarchist, and a student of the opponents of anarchism throughout history, I wager intent to be the more important factor. #Firefox #Privacy #Security

Yubikeys don't work out of the box for the LibreWolf Flatpak because they sandboxed it so hard.

No big deal. Just had to go into the KDE Plasma Flatpak permission settings and let it have access to all the systems. Which is what Firefox was allowed anyway with a system install.

See why I am divorcing you Firefox? #Firefox #LibreWolf #Privacy #Security

@[email protected] It took a while, and I hate that it enforces light themes because somehow default dark themes make surfing less secure 🙄

But after forcing myself to use it, I have more or less set everything up for the future success. And not having to go through the settings removing Google search from default is already worth the hassle.

LibreWolf is my main now.
Firefox, I hope you recover from "paying CEO millions". It sounds like a fatal condition. #WebBrowsers #Firefox #LibreWolf

AZKi has shown me a side of Othello/Reversi that I didn't know existed.

The absolute bait-and-switch play looks like sadistic fun. To give your opponent hope, while eliminating all potential moves they can make, until they dance at your mercy.

Me and the DM, the eldest members of our TTRPG group playing Lancer absolutely roasted the youngest member in the firmest way possible for passing us a written document on his character, which I immediately thought looked like LLM slop, when he wanted us to read his dossier after our session last week.

In good faith, I read it, asked whether he wrote it, and he answered he used ChatGPT.

I immediately responded: "If you can't be bothered to write it, I can't be bothered to read it."

That also explains why his character interaction was a little disjointed, and callous. By being excused from thinking deeply about the character he was embodying in our session, he kept making some of the most inflammatory choices possible until the characters of the rest of our players and the DM tried to nudge him towards not being so destructive or greedy.

If this were a video game, it would be the equivalent of not reading the storyline, and just jumping straight into combat every single time, then conversing with others who read the story and had the myriad emotional investments and wondering why we are all feeling things.

Now, you can do this in real life, via LLM-assisted TTRPG character generation. I think he is missing the point of why in the age of computer games with the convenience of all the rules and tool-tips, people still want to gather together and be humans about the stories we want to tell. #Gaming #LLM #TTRPG #Lancer

@[email protected] haha I'll find out when I buy a brand new laptop after another 10 years.

But by then, I hope Framework laptops will be available locally here for purchase.

@[email protected] Windows 11's installer forces you to choose a WiFi SSID. There is no skip button.

Once I realised I shouldn't have put in my WiFi password, it was too late, and restarting the setup did not reset the storage of my password in the setup screen.

I couldn't be arsed to turn off my WiFi just to open a shell in the installer, to disable network connectivity, when the purpose was to experience what a typical Windows 11 victim goes through.

@[email protected] I genuinely started to think everyone around me must have the patience of the Buddha after 1 hour of just the setup experience for Windows 11, before I could even use the laptop.

It was an Asus A16 AMD Advantage machine as well, so this was not a budget machine. The amount of bloatware that was probably crammed into the initial install, was that really necessary for a rather premium device?

I could not create a local user account too. Microsoft did everything to just make me give up and sign in with a Microsoft account, then I got email notifications that I had been signed up with McAfee?!

Starting to think the YouTube videos on Linux is not just the algorithm doing its thing, but people genuinely switching in large numbers.

I bought a new laptop, my first brand new first hand laptop in more than 10 years, and decided to try the Windows 11 setup experience that came with it.

It was non-stop cursing. It made the quirks of working with a system so new the Linux drivers haven't caught up with how to manage an integrated and discrete GPU yet a tolerable yet charming character trait.

I totally understand the hatred Kronii has for this OS she is forced to live with for her job.
