Why would an influencer pull support over nothing officially announced yet? Most likely true but sounds like an out to me.

Why this over Mastodon?

Not true, Jack Dorsey is not involved in day-to-day development but is still on the board according to an article a few months ago.

Are you asking Hal to fix Google's business making decisions?

Jokes aside, the community welcomes all alternative clients Desktop, Mobile, etc. No one can fix Google's poor decision making except Google. What can we do as consumers of Youtube to fix what is broken in the short term? Any alternative interface that fixes the problems for which we have control over.

Balatro, it reminds me of how everyone who back in the day played Solitaire on the desktop to pass time. Instead it has a modern take with poker and mixing it into a roguelike. Easy to learn but can be complicated. I thought I was going to put 30 minutes into the game but now I have 10 hours into it and can't wait for full release. Recommend it even if you do not like card games.

This one surprised me. I was going to spend 30 minutes playing, now have logged 10 hours.

While I agree with you, hard drives do have a shelf life. How many years seems to be up for debate but it does exist. If you don’t have multiple drives that are of different ages you may be in a world of hurt one day.

The Binding of Isaac. I keep buying it on all platforms. No single run is the same. More expensive than it should be these days but it is my crack.

You've already taken the first step by being self-aware when dealing with salespeople. I commend you for recognizing this, as it's disheartening to see many people in the US unaware of it and consequently spending more money than necessary. I share your sentiment that everything seems like a con these days, particularly when it involves big companies. It's crucial to conduct thorough research before making purchases exceeding $200+.

You already got the first step down, be proud of yourself that you are self aware when a sales person is selling you something. In the US it makes me sad seeing so many people not realize this and end up spending way more money than needed. I agree with you everything feels like a con anymore especially from big companies. Research, research, research before buying anything above $200+

Lemmy should do it similar to how I have seen this done on Mastodon. When you upload an image an overlay shows up to remind the user to describe the image before submitting. The typical user is not going to remember to do this.
