I know and I said in my post that it doesn’t delete anything. It tells me that the deletion was requested, but nothing happens and the account is still up. The one I intend to delete is the one I’m typing this comment from, btw.

I’ve requested the deletion 2 days ago & I don’t expect the account to be deleted that quickly, although it would’ve been nicer if it were, but at least I could get a confirmation per mail or sth that my request is indeed being processed. Right now I can’t tell if the deletion has been truly requested or not.

I’ve been trying to delete my current kbin account because I don’t wanna use it. I realised that I actually don’t need it and want to stick to using my Mastodon account for everything, but it seems like I can’t just have it be deleted? I tried to request deletion, but I neither got an email as a confirmation that anything is being processed, nor has my account been deleted and it’s been days since the request and I’ve tried requesting it multiple times since then.

From my understanding of the GDPR, this seems to be a direct violation of my right to erasure, however, I’m gonna be gentle and blame the current circumstances on the alpha state of the software (even though this shouldn’t have been an afterthought).

Does anyone know how I could get this settled?
Thanks 😊

Sry, can't open the link since I'm in Europe, but I guess the source is just Daddy Zuck then. Thanks!

Where are people getting these numbers from? I've seen three people so far each give a different number for day 1 signups (probably bc today is the first day), but I'd like to know the source, please.

Girl, it's Twitter. Don't expect much more than toxicity at best.

I get what you mean, but for that to happen, I would have to post about it under related posts which might turn people off for spam advertisement. It is what it is 😪

And it’s far less cluttered. I use it because it gives me the same or better results than Google and it’s UI is waaay cleaner and reflects my dark style preference without having to reload it even once.

It’s great you did that because it’s a glaring issue on the fediverse in general. It’s hard enough having to find people/pages/communities and already, but the fedi adds another layer of complexity which is the domain name: multiple people can have the same user name but on multiple instances which makes finding the “real” person you are looking for even harder!

This is not just relevent for a new user that is looking for communities, but also for people who create the communities. I created a niche community for an artist I admire and I can’t figure out how to promote it or literally just make people aware it exists in case they would be interested. It’s at https://kbin.social/m/ethelcain for anyone that would like to check it out. I guess for now the only way to promote these magazines is by posting them in posts like this one.

The problem we have then is that search engines won't change for the Fediverse. Maybe the SearXNG people could at least add the biggest instances as "preferred" targets in the search results or something. We probably won't have a perfect solution for a while.

What does Goodreads offer that Bookwyrm doesn't, so that you are maintaining both?

Disclaimer: I don't use either, just curious.
