Serious question, do you feel like you’re seeing more and more of them of late? I do but my husband thinks I’m just falling victim to whichever theory or whatever it is that when you notice something, you start noticing more of it over and over but it is not any more common than it was before. I’m not convinced.

Anyway recently I was behind one that made me laugh. It said: New Driver Good Luck Everyone

If my beloved GHO can’t win, then Eurasian Eagle should! So majestic… and catlike lol

I have given up on cookie presses altogether because I have had such trouble with them. I didn’t when I was a kid; my mom’s just worked. But I’ve never been able to recreate that experience. Now I just roll cookies out and save myself the frustration, even if it takes longer.

Storybook ending. They sound like good people.

I love the one little eye peeking out.

Maybe I should post this in unpopular opinion but I did not enjoy these! I always chose what I thought were reasonable and pragmatic choices (because I was a boring and scaredy child) and I always died, lol. Looking back as an adult, I imagine that that’s the idea, that you get to and should take “risks” and they’ll pay off in the story. But as a kid I was always super frustrated, ha!

I’m a super white lady living in a pretty multicultural area. Sadly I feel like I mostly experience the opposite here from my non-white friends. Those with names from their ancestral culture (is that a good way to put it? Not sure) either ignore our mispronunciations or simply adopt western names. I had a coworker from Shanghai whose name I always said wrong because of the inflection. It makes me sad that they kind of give up trying to teach people to pronounce their names correctly, but at the same time, I get it. It’s a lot of constant work and some of us white people, or other non-whites from different cultures, just aren’t going to try or see why it’s important. I probably wouldn’t force the issue either if it were me, but man, what a constant way to feel othered.

That eyebrow ridge is pretty prominent so I think your guess is a good one.

This guy is my favorite bird of all time, and I love cats. Maybe there’s a connection, ha. Although IMO he also has the most iconic hoot of all time so that also gets him big points in my book.

Look at those faces and tell me it’s not a feathered cat.

My 10yo is quite skinny. My husband was also skinny as a kid so generally we haven’t worried about it much. But he just had his yearly checkup, and for the past two years he’s gained very little while still growing taller, and his BMI is dropping off the chart. The doc ordered a blood test and it came back fine, no celiac or thyroid issues (PHEW). So we’re back to trying to boost his intake.

He’s not a super picky kid but he can be reluctant to try things. He eats a lot of classic kid food with no problem: mac and cheese, pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets, etc. He also tends to eat a ton of fruits and veggies, which I don’t want to discourage or course! I might try PB&J again but he doesn’t love it like he used to.

The doc did say that she tends to prefer that kids eat their calories instead of drink them, but if a protein drink works for him, it’s an option as long as it’s not displacing solid food. I picked up one by Orgain the other day and he doesn’t seem overly thrilled with it. I’d be curious to know if other people have tried other brands and what their kids thought of them.

Anyone deal with this? What worked for you?

Maybe this isn’t the right community to post in, so apologies if this seems odd. But I figure we sewists may have specific needs or thoughts when it comes to garment care so this is the first place I thought of to ask.

My washer is throwing error codes this morning and googling suggests it might be related to some computer panel or other, and I’m a bit worried that repairs are going to be so expensive that it might mean a new washer is in the cards. We’ll see.

Are there any features that you love in your washer, wish it had, or downright hate?

Also, back when we bought this thing, front loaders were all the rage. It seems like top loaders are back in fashion. Does anyone know the story there and/or why a top loader might be a better option?

I’m all ears for opinions about dryers too!

Thanks in advance, y’all.
