It's worse than I could've imagined. The dipshit literally gets giddy and throws the nazi salute twice. This is nowhere near a strangely timed photo.

Any company will market that its ideas are possible. The article you linked is promising, but take it with a huge grain of salt. They are moving the goalposts the whole article. Flat graphene is a great material for space elevators, but it can't currently be created without defects. Polycrystaline means the graphene created includes defects sort of. It means the graphene they created that is km's long has shitloads of places where cycle loading will cause it to fail way under (like 10%) of its expected load carrying capacity.

Edit: I want this technology to exist. My MS in mechanical engineering focused in materials science tells me we are quite far from it happening.

Ban was bipartisan. Supreme Court upheld it. Biden said he wasn't going to enforce it. Trump says he is giving 90 day period for them to divest, with the possibility of making it partially state owned. Whole situation is stupid, but almost all on repubs.

Yep. Winter tires stay soft at lower temperatures increasing static and dynamic frictions in winter conditions.

Extreme doubt on strong enough. The author of this article barely understands the words they are using. Cool it strain hardens, so do so many other materials. Cool it's tough like many other materials. Wow it has more links than others. No actual numbers about toughness, yield, ultimate strength, cycle limits, etc. It's great research, but it absolutely isn't going to magically solve the space elevator issue.

Totally incorrect for both posts. A geo with winter tires is better in the snow than a truck on 40 inch mud tires. Winter tires feel like turning on the cheat codes when it's slick. They have like 10 times the grip of good all seasons below freezing.

I drive on unmaintained roads a lot in the winter. The hakkapeliittas on my truck let me drive in 2wd until the snow is a foot deep.

The problem both of your opinions have is they ignore the baseline improved treatment straight white dudes like myself get. We get better treatment and preferential hiring just by existing. I'm not afraid to talk to anyone in the tiny sithole towns I go to for work. I've have so many people walk past my boss and talk to me because he wears a turban, or my other boss getting talked over because she is a women. These examples aren't directly related to hiring, but you are blind if you don't see the obvious advantages we have.

Altria, formerly Philip Morris, still allows smoking in their buildings as of a few years ago. It's trippy to book a non-smoking room in the 2020s.

I've just read Dune, Messiah, and I'm part way through children of dune. Wow, they are much better than the movies. So many themes were dropped to make it more palatable, and I have no idea how they are going to do the storyline from messiah in the third movie.

Sold my stupid 95 f150 the moment I didn't need it to do house repairs. It hauled almost nothing and the 5.0 turned fuel into noise and not much else. Our old 3/4 ton suburban isn't much better, but it keeps my dogs in a conditioned space and hauls the same or more than you want. I only drive it when needed and it disgusts me how much smaller it is than a modern half ton. Fuck current vehicles and their useless size.

It was a mix of the constant lying about Teslas future mixed with him reminding me of a rapist I know that fixed my perception of him.

This tracks with my experiences.

Dumbest person I met in grad school was upper Indian caste. I wrote a paper he slapped his name on and rehashed several times to get his PhD in mechanical engineering. He didn't understand basic concepts we learn before entering the engineering program, still has a PhD because money.

Foreign teams that have US degrees within my company also match your description. We give them a task expecting a full days work in their opposite time zone. Instead they work for 15 minutes, get confused, send a single question to us, and stop working for the rest of the day. They are less than worthless, always costing more time to clean up after than they save.
