I don't think there is any one specific ADHD test. My testing process was 3 zoom appointments. An introduction/get to know you,why are you here appointment. The second one was testing. The third was the results of testing, explanations, an overall summary with recommendations and I was given the day when a written summary would be online in my psych records that I requested to be sent to my primary doctor.

The testing sections were picked by the doctor. There were a few different tests. Some tested functional memory, some how your brain handles a complex thing, some were answering questions using a scale, some were true false. I had to draw an abstract picture after looking at it for a period of time. There were some odd questions too which the psych told me would possibly be in there. Those were there to see if you were reading and comprehending the test. They were obvious like Robert Thomas is your spouse. True or False. (I don't know anyone named Robert Thomas and I don't have a spouse.)

My suggestion is to not worry about the test. You just answer questions the best you can. There isn't a right or wrong answer. It just gives the psych some understanding of how your brain functions.

I have no experience with testing for autism.

I use color note for a to do list, reminder page and shopping lists. It's just a note pad of lists. a calendar, phone alarms and a spin the wheel app. I use the spin the wheel on my days off.One for house chores and one with things I like to do. I do one chore then one fun thing. I can also hide the stuff I complete (on the wheels) until everything gets done. I guess I am trying to make boring tasks into a game so they get done and I get a reward spin for completing the boring task. None of the reward tasks are huge, they basically give me small increments of free time to do something I like to do. Then repeat until the boring tasks are completed.

I am thankful to be at home in my bed.My daughter is stuck in a terminal at JFK due to missing a connecting flight because an international flight was delayed.

My question is just what the title says. I am new to being diagnosed and new to taking medication. The first one I tried made me extremely fatigued to the point I would sleep all night. Get up and do a little and want to go back to sleep again. Obviously this wasn't the right med for me because it was hard for me to function because of exhaustion for no reason.

I am currently trying a new medication(beginning my third day) and am trying to figure out if it helps or not.

What things help you know a medication is somewhat successful for you in helping manage your ADHD?

What helps you know it is not working other than intolerable side effects?

Thanks. I am not looking for specific medication suggestions.Just looking for examples of how you can tell if medication is working or not for you and your ADHD.

This is all new to me, the diagnosis and medication part, not so much the ADHD that I have been living with for a lifetime.

Glad you found your way here. I have migrated too. I may pop back to my subs to vote on continuing the blackout but I am not posting there anymore. I am ready to move forward with Lemmy and see where it goes. Hopefully others will too.
