Should be much better in 0.10.9

[–] liftoff 3 points 1 year ago

Yes, sorry about that. We pushed out 0.10.9 to address this.

[–] liftoff 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah good call, we can do that

[–] liftoff 17 points 1 year ago (4 children)

We'll add back the grey mode

[–] liftoff 5 points 1 year ago (4 children)

This is a lingering error with the forced logout that some instances did. You can remove and re add your account and it will be fixed or you can wait a few days and we'll get it fixed.

[–] liftoff 7 points 1 year ago

Redgifs has a nightmare of an API. In my testing only 2 out of 10 worked. We're waiting on a dedicated API token from them

[–] liftoff 11 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Sure we can bring it back!

[–] liftoff 5 points 1 year ago

I don't think Lemmy supports markdown in titles. And we likely won't add that

[–] liftoff 11 points 1 year ago

Yeah turning off shadow is great. I should have updated the default. Light mode needs the shadows

Always happy to listen. Action's a different matter of course 😉

They seem to have had some success working on this, but it appears that once again, you will need to follow the old routine:

  1. go to Settings > Accounts
  2. optional (see update below) -- long press on each lemmy.world account to remove it.
  3. then add it back again.

[Update: user feedback is that you can just add your existing account again without deleting it and the app will do the right thing]

We are looking at a better way of dealing with this. Thanks for bearing with us.

A number of Lemmy instances have been hacked overnight.

Some may remain inaccessible until they have been secured and restarted.

As a safety precaution logged-on sessions on many servers have been cancelled and you are required to logon again.

Unfortunately, the only way I could find to do this in Liftoff! is by going to Settings > Accounts and deleting each local account by long pressing on it, and then create it again.

All your posts, comments and bookmarks should be preserved during this process.

Please see the linked posts for further details as they emerge.

Thanks all, and please bear with us as this gets resolved.

We had the old (ex-Limbo) version still sitting in TestFlight, but found that some users hadn't realised that they were on that version rather than the current, maintained version so access to that version now been switched off.

If you find you've just lost access to Liftoff!, please join the new TestFlight version at https://testflight.apple.com/join/jKENkGjX -- you should see version 0.10.7 there, with many, many new and improved features!

We're updating our development environment for iOS and one major change is we are now using a new account for releasing TestFlight builds.

New builds will now be available at: https://testflight.apple.com/join/jKENkGjX

The current build is exactly the same as the last build we made available on the old account yesterday.

It is correctly described as Liftoff! now, rather than Limbo for Lemmy. You can run both versions in parallel if you wish, but we will be withdrawing the old version at some point.

Your settings and account data will not transfer over to the new version so you will need to enter them again. They will then be saved and available in future builds.

NOTE: lemmy.world is having some stability issues at the moment so you may see knock-on issues in the app.

For those of you wondering what all the fuss is about, here's a quick introduction to the app.

Yes, it’s yet another app for Lemmy, but based heavily on the mature but now abandoned Lemmur project, with a few updates to make it run with the current API and some minor changes to the UI.

Written in Flutter, so it is very multi-platform. We currently have builds available for testing for Android and iOS (also running on iPad and Macs [Apple Silicon only for the moment]). Brave souls can try building it for Linux or Windows and report back on their experiences!

Preview it on iOS at TestFlight or on Android at GitHub.

The source is released under GPL 2.0 and is available at GitHub for inspection, download, build, issue logging and contributions, so go and get it!

Features:

  • Fully featured for end users: posting and commenting fully complete.
  • Sorting and UI customisation options.
  • Light Mode, Dark Mode, System Mode.
  • Multiple accounts on multiple servers.
  • Bookmark your favourite posts and comments.
  • Localisation (work in progress).
  • Full search support (posts, comments, users, communities).
  • Support for direct messaging.

And here's a few screenshots:
