(Love that you're willing to learn!)
All I can say at this time, is that we have joined the other 5,000+ subreddits in protest. We are here to provide continued support to our community, and we strongly believe that having a platform unaffected by corporate interests will serve everyone better in the long haul.
Lemmy may be rough around the edges now, but so was reddit in its early days for those of us who remember it. The apps and website will only get better as more and more people come on board!
The systemic estrogen (patch) should help significantly with atrophy, but it takes time...like months for some. So folks will also consider adding on localized estrogen, like Vagifem.
It's not that the term "compounded" is a dirty word, it certainly has its place for some things, like specifically, testosterone (since so many doctors won't prescribe it AT ALL). But vaginally, there's no telling what the cream mixture dosages are (even if the pharmacist tells you). So the "mixed"/compounded recipe might not be enough and there's no way to know. Either way, results vary, you may notice improvements after a few weeks (for atrophy) and for others it can take months. But if you're looking for libido help, then it can take months as well, and even then MHT/HRT and/or Testosterone may not work at all for some folks.
As for how long between application and sex? The longest time between vaginal applications as possible. Obviously you may not be able to plan that, but longer is better for your partner, as transfer may occur. Otherwise, if you need something for lubrication before/during, consider using a non-hormonal option, like hyaluronic acid. Here's a link to the various lubes, and one of them might help too.
Fair enough. I started following Angie over 5 years ago, and I do a bit of a stripped down version of her skin care, and noticed better skin tone overall. I'm not focused on the anti-aging stuff, just protecting my skin from further sun damage.
MHT/HRT will help with a lot of symptoms, but you're right, it's not going to make everything feel better all the time. Exercising regularly definitely helps and of course getting a good night's sleep, but we know that's not always possible either.
Yup symptoms...that's all you can go by. Even then if you keep the mirena, you won't really know if you've reached post-meno either because symptoms can carry on after that too.
It's so important not to be hard on ourselves, we are our worst critics in everything. Trying to pluck something from memory is always worse when there's someone standing there, waiting for you to say it. Then I get frustrated, not about finding the words, but about what they might think.
I'm glad you got them all...little buggers. Crying jags are a weird thing, one little issue could cause a few tears, and then it's open flood gates the rest of the day. I don't know if it's some weird phenomenon or if there's some scientific evidence for it, but once I start crying, the tears easily come hours later (for no reason). Even if I'm laughing!
It's amazing where all that hair ends ups...I'd see it in my dog's poop!
Glad you made it!
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I have been in discussion with other health-related mods this week and am intending to re-open the sub to restricted today. Updated info will be provided then.
