@Dave @sortofblue I'm personally not a fan of splitting small communities.

If mixing content types makes moderation too hard, then I would say that the above post belongs in the "politics" section of a newspaper so yeah.

@Floofah looks like a catchy slogan for a policy essentially aimed at devolution of justice power to iwi.

Really though, I wonder if we would willingly invent prisons again if we didn't already have them?

I used to work in courts and it was crazy how many criminals were either fetal alcohol/intellectual disability or suffered head injury.

The latter always scared me, normal folk just a car crash or ladder fall away from a changed life.

@Dave crazy story but this just happened after my message. A car pulled up to my bumper and wanted the park i was reversing into. The lady refused to move!

Bugger that, I had nowhere to be and can stay stubborn longer than her lack of shame can last.

@Axisential @Dave I have a natural talent for parallel parking and revel in it. I feel like a hero when traffic is backed up and I need to parallel park. No worries fam, I think to myself, I've got this one.

@BalpeenHammer @SamC it's more noticeable with left wing small parties though? I notice it a lot with my boomer rellies.

@Dave @Ilovethebomb blocking the motorway seems like public interest reporting. I guess follow-up reports on trials and mp responses is for politics.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

@Ilovethebomb I guess choose your poison. One side underachieves to your expectations, the other never intends to try.

@Rangelus we are now in post truth. It doesn't matter that the policy cannot be implemented. What's important to National is how the policy makes you feel.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

@Rangelus @Dave exactly my thoughts. Announce something nice that doesn't happen with so something unpopular that will.

Privatising electricity was unpopular until Key said all the money will be spent on public infrastructure and water projects. The dams never happened at scale and were never going to.

@Ilovethebomb I see it as a crap sandwich, you put the gst (actually happening but unpopular) in-between two slices of vague but popular things that never actually evenuate.
