I feel like we could all benefit heavily from a sticky post with some basic info for people coming here. Link to this post for good clients, link to obosob's post on why we're on Lemmy now, any other helpful stuff for Lemmy newbs like me. u/obosob what do you think?

Yup, I was using Thunder and it just wasn't working. I updated the post.

Just did, and yes edits apparently work! That's a big relief - edits and replies are like 75% of communication on Reddit.

Yup, it was a client thing. Thunder wouldn't let me reply to replies

This is a pretty significant long term issue. Overall search-ability is just an issue with federated content.

On the plus side it looks like I can reply to comments after all. It just won't let me know Thunder (definitely not using that client now)

@rafaelromao for sure on the low cost way to mess around with mappings. I still have my original ergodox EZ precisely for trying out new layouts. I love their online configurator for how fast it is to set something up and prototype an idea, so I've been doing that a little while now and I'm thinking the layout I described in this post is what I want to build next. I've never built a unibody before, so the hummingbird looks fun to try. Like the idea of a single controller, and the portability of a unibody.

Oh sick that's like exactly what I want lol. Now I just got to find a shop that sells these PCBs. Not really interested in spending the time to order them myself.

Glad to see everyone keeping the community alive over here. I was super skeptical this would look anything like reddit but so far it's actually quite similar minus annoying ads, so all around good stuff.

You gotta give it more time, it'll come. Then you'll never want to go back. One thing that really helps me is using karabiner elements on Mac to have some of the improvements I get with my split keyboard right there on my laptop. Here's how I use it: https://github.com/jhelvy/jkeyboard
