Definitely, and that is one of my main fears/critiques of this whole fediverse thing. Ideally there will be a system in place to help mitigate that, if there isn't already. Defederating is also effective.

I guess my point is that any instance (or website in general) that was not started with the inherent goal of being a fascist echo chamber should be completely intolerant of fascist/bigoted ideas. Especially the big ones, like lemmy.world and Kbin. And they should do everything within their power to not let those ideas exist. The paradox of tolerance and all that.

Some people are too far gone and will just run away into the shadows, sure. I'm more concerned about the "regular" people who are exposed to those ideas against their own will and get sucked into this cycle of hatred.

Sure, but the goal here is not necessarily to eliminate hate-speech entirely, since that is obviously impossible; the goal is to make it hard to find. You do that by not allowing hateful communities on your website. I don't want an impressionable teenager, for example, to get sucked into a fascist echo chamber on the same sites they use to talk about video games. That was (still is?) a huuuge problem in the YouTube gaming scene.

Ideally there would be systems in place to stop the fascists from creating their own echo chamber instance, but I understand why people would be scared of that power being abused. So fine, let them then. But they should never see the light of day.

Genuinely - if you do not think this is effective, how do you think we can deal with extremism effectively?

I don't agree with your entire post but, if I understand what you're trying to say, I think the downvotes are a little unwarranted. Keeping these fascist/bigoted communities around just facilitates hate, so I agree that we should destroy their "walls" and forcefully expose them to new ideas that challenge their hateful ones. They sure as hell won't get that if we, as individuals, simply block their community so we don't have to see it happen.

Allowing fascist/bigoted echo chambers to exist at all just facilitates more hate being brought into the world. Obviously one can only do so much, but I think there is some sort of obligation there for both an individual and a community to stop the spread of hate.

I feel like a good OL is really the key to almost every other position excelling. It's something I'm gonna try to pay more attention to this season instead of just going by name value lol

I think adding some position scarcity and reasons to trade is a great idea for an 8 team league. Plus seeing your team get a bunch of points just feels good lol. Even if its just because there are more players

I love the Pokemon Legendary Titans inspo! I think the water golem is my fav.

What program did you use to make these?

Did you forget to include RBs in there? My group's smallest league is 10 teams, but we usually do QB, 2RB, 2-3WR, TE, FLEX, a SUPERFLEX spot, and D/ST. We never really use kickers and in one league we don't even do D/ST, which has honestly been fine so far.

The Superflex is usually just your QB2 but gives you a little leeway for experimenting if theres an injury and nobody on the waiver wire. I had Engram in there once when he was going off last season, with Kelce in the TE spot. I guess in an 8 team league that is less of a problem, although last year was a bad year to not have a top 6ish QB.

We do full PPR as well. From my perspective it just makes more players playable, especially TEs. But an 8 team league might not have that problem either

I've actually been practicing paradiddles with the accent for a bit, so I should def focus on not doing the accent lol. And even for other rudiments, I've noticed that whenever I try to incorporate the kick drum it's hard for me to not bring my right arm down a little harder than my left. Something I am working on.

I've been trying to play to a metronome as much as I can, and I've figured out that my time is definitely not as good as I thought it was either haha. Even after playing and recording guitar to a click for a while, there is a lot less leeway for drummers it seems...

Thanks for the tips! And I'll be sure to check those vids out as well.

[–] jazzbox 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Would you be able to elaborate on how to practice that? Any exercises you know of or vids to watch?

[–] jazzbox 2 points 2 years ago

The upside is that your never need to find or match the scale!

Lol, not having to worry about scales is something I've actually been so excited about as a guitarist. Which might be a little ironic considering changing keys is so easy on guitar...

Thanks for the advice!

Just got my first kit ever! A Gretsch Catalina Maple that I bought off my good friend who isn't able to drum as often as he used to. I'm a guitarist but have always felt like a drummer at heart lol, now I finally get to see if I was right
