I bought an instant pot for myself for Christmas and it's fantastic. I cook a lot of lentils, it's great for rice,.I make yoghurt in it. The best bit is that you can pop everything in and forget about it until it tells you it's done. One less thing to watch when my energy is low.

Oh mate that's terrible. Cat 4 is no joke. I've been through cat 2/3 here in Aus and that was terrifying enough). Stay safe in the aftermath.

Hugs. I have never known cats to be aloof, they are just picky in wh they care for

This is very true. I have been wanting more social interaction lately but I have also been unwell and brain body just saying 'no'. Thanks.

Oh I am devastated! That's the problem with not being a shopaholic. Everything I own is special.

Thanks mate. Just had a moment of mind worms. All good now

Thanks. It's sunny and quiet here

Pizza in oven. Beer in hand..planning to watch the game here at home and maybe potter around cleaning in between quarters.

I did want to go down to the local for the atmosphere but damn I am in pretty urgent need of introvert time. Went out this morning and managed to lose my favourite shopping bags on the bus among other brainfog disasters. Internet friends could someone tell me that's ok to stay here on my own and it doesn't make me a loser?

I slipped and fell last night right on my bum and today my tailbone / sacrum is definitely bruised. Good excuse for a lazy day but I can't help wondering at what ages does one go from "fell over" to "had a fall".... ๐Ÿง“

four potatoes, three capsicum, one zucchini, three carrots, one eggplant, on quarter pumpkin, three parsnips, two onions

I got a $30 mystery veggie box from QVM and am planning my weeks food. Thought I would share here for a bit of fun to see what other suggestions I get. I also have some chuck steak in the freezer and a pretty good pantry.

My ideas so far include

  • pumpkin and parsip soup
  • maybe grilling those capsicums as a side dish
  • mashed potatoes and a hearty stew (onions and carrots)

But I am open to suggestions!

What is your meal planning style? Any good meal planning tips?

I am trying to get better at meal planning because I always start off strong then get bored / run out of food at the end of the week. For while I have been doing a big cook on Sunday but this week I am trying a basic menu and cook as I go. Hoping that having a plan will make it easier.

My plan (one person) is

  • red lentil curry + coconut rice (3 serves made today)
  • instant pot spag Bol (3 serves made Monday night)
  • a beef stir-fry (X 2 serves) made wed night
  • quick ramen noodles + stock and frozen veg in between

Ideally I would prep veg today but I have been away and am tired and can't be bothered so will prep as I go.

What other things are people doing?

Fingers crossed its not H5N1.

My old xps13 is old in the tooth and the new ones have some things I don't like. So I am after recommendations. My preferences

  • Linux (Ubuntu/Debian friendly). Happy to wipe and install and will check compatibility beforehand but if anyone has a Linux daily driver they love let me know
  • good CPU and decent RAM (32gb would be nice)
  • Lightweight - smaller preferred (currently on a 13" and happy)
  • Touchscreen would be nice
  • Usb-c
  • Decent battery life

I have access to other machines for heavy GPU stuff that's not as important as CPU and RAM.

Uses:

  • Programming/terminal use
  • Reading docs and papers
  • Watching movies etc
  • No gaming

That's my wishlist. What do you suggest, Aussie tech friends?

Anyone have an instant pot? Any foolproof recipes? I just got one (thanks Santa) and wondering where to start.
