Honestly, I just like the UI better.

At the end of the day that’s a large reason to choose any of the federated platforms because as it matures we will seamlessly be able to communicate with each other. Be it Mastadon, Kbin, Lemmy, Pixelfed etc.

That’s what I love about federation. It won’t matter what platform we are on, we just choose the one that looks the best for us and can talk to EVERYBODY. It wouldn’t surprise me if down the road there is a better universal alternative that shows Mastodon, Lemmy/Kbin, Pixelfed content in their original format all in one instance (could be like tabs or all in one feed). I would personally use that but if anyone just wants to see posts in a Lemmy-like format they have the power to choose.

I feel like this is a bad decision under the current circumstances, but also this shows the problems when one instance holds too large a portion of the user base and why we want to decentralize in the first place.

Defederation is a big decision that should not be taken lightly. You are effectively silencing an entire group of people from your group and when it’s a group as large as these two instances there is a lot of collateral damage.

However, we need more instances that are as well run as Lemmy.world if we want to truly be decentralized but I guess that is easier said than done.

I feel like the mods at bee haw are just putting a band aid on the problem because the “trolls” are going to keep coming as long as Lemmy is growing. They can just as easily come from any other instance. Defederation is not a replacement for good moderation.

Either way, I hope that as Lemmy matures we get more and more well run instances so we don’t have to rely on a small group of instances and hope they can get along

Interesting. In that case, I think the most likely explanation is that when someone from a different instance than the one that hosts the community makes the community it adds the extra @(instance) to the end. Whether thats a bug or a feature only the devs know i guess lol.

Yea tbh I took a look at your profile and saw all the communities you moderate and noticed ones with "@lemmy.world" are unreachable with things like "lemmy.world/c/vinyl" but others like "lemmy.world/c/languages" work just fine. Did you name them all in the same way or did you add "@lemmy.world" to some but not others. I think it may be the latter which is where the problem occurs.

In theory I'm pretty sure it should be working like that but it seems for whatever reason this community needs the extra @lemmy.world. My guess is its a bug that's causing it to behave like that. Every community I see can be reached with https://(instance)/c/(community).

The unfortunate growing pains with Lemmy seems to be everyone trying to understand how the Fediverse works while also having to work with bugs that cause it to not function as intended.

Definitely a fan of Bordeaux, Pinot Noir, some napa cabs, Brunello, Barolos, and other Italian reds. Pretty much anything red I am a fan of. Could never really get into whites but am hoping to find something I like eventually.

Total wine. I'm pretty new to the wine world so they have served me well so far until I learn where to grab the good stuff lol

Recently had a 2019 Chateau La Rose de Vitrac Bordeaux on a recommendation I saw from wineking on Youtube. At $13 it seems to really delivery above its price range. Has plenty of depth and complexity that you dont see in cheap bordeaux. Enjoyed it with the family with some steak. Good deal for a good wine.

I recently started learning about wine and was a fan of seeing people post on r/wine. Glad there's now a community here. Hope there's enough interest for this place to grow. Look forward to it!
