Updated to version 0.2, integrating changes from @Ori and a bug fix for getting the magazine name when on a magazine page

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thanks for the tip, that looks like a good alternative

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll add that to my next update, I also found an issue with retrieving the magazine name if you're in a magazine feed that I need to fix.

Tried to click on the lemmy.world link but of course they’re down too right now…

Introducing kbin Feed Curator! An upgraded version of my 'Enough about Reddit already' script, it now allows you to add to your blacklist from kbin itself, instead of having to edit the script.

A screenshot showing the blacklist modal

Now also includes settings, thanks to kbin-mod-options! So far the settings are 1) a toggle to completely hide blocked posts instead of displaying a placeholder message and 2) the button to open the blacklist modal.

btdig and knaben are both torrent search engines, and the Internet Archive is another good place to search for hard to find videos. None of them turned up Transexual Menace, but they did find Rurangi.

The binhex container has worked well for me on Unraid.

Seems like you didn't really understand my point. Meta is very averse to, for example, any NSFW content, or using words that aren't G-rated to talk about other people. I do not think there will be a slow creep of Meta federating with server by server, because I do not think 99% of servers are willing to abide by those restrictions. If you want me to make up numbers, I think Meta will federate with 10 servers, at most, and that's it.
The other part of the equation, from what I understand, is authorized fetch. If servers implement that, that prevents Threads from accessing their content from a middle-man server if defederated.

So no, I don't want to federate with them. But I also think that writing off kbin because Ernest hasn't already defederated is a premature, knee-jerk reaction.

Yep, and if Threads is enforcing the same TOS as Instagram, there’s no way that Meta is going to open the doors to the fediverse in general. I expect that when Meta does enable federation, it will be with a small number of vetted servers that agree to follow their TOS as well.
I understand people’s concerns with Threads, and don’t want to touch it with a ten foot pole myself, but a lot of the reaction posts are sensationalized.

I don’t have much to say about watches but THANK YOU for bringing hobby drama to the fediverse!

Threads is setting itself up to be a sanitized version of Twitter that employs the most mundane features of the platform while stifling the posting culture that made Twitter so unique. The users who make Twitter fun, and build the sense of community that defined the platform at its peak, will likely be flagged for violating one of Instagram’s archaic community guidelines if they bring the same energy to Threads.

As if I need even more reasons to avoid Threads...

I thought we defederated with nsfw because of technical issues with nsfw images not being blurred properly, not the rules issue?

They're both live 24/7, showing a random rotation of movies (like the Pluto channels) and you can hang out and chat with fellow fans.

Step 1 is to go to the Magazines tab at the top of the page, and start browsing what our local instance here has to offer. But if you want to explore the wider world of the threadiverse, check out the list below:

Tip: How to subscribe to lemmy communities on kbin

Kbin Link, a browser extension that adds an icon next to links to lemmy communities to easily allow you to open the associated kbin magazine

Communities/Magazines
These communities are focused on helping people find, discover, and promote niche communities.

Websites
These sites are external, easy-to-browse directories of communities.

Special Interest Instances
You can go to the Communities tab on any of these sites and find niche communities to subscribe to. This is not an exhaustive list and doesn't include any location-specific or language-specific instances.

Just in time for what is likely another wave of the Reddit migration, I made a userscript to hide posts with Reddit-related keywords and posts from magazines with Reddit in the name from your feed.

[Userscript] kbin ez block (media.kbin.social)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

~~I've seen people wishing for an easier way to block magazines without having to go to the magazine page. Checked around and haven't found any scripts that do that, so I hacked together one with the help of chatGPT~~

~~It also hides the post you selected the block option from. I tried to add toast message functionality but that still needs some work.~~

~~Definitely open to constructive criticism & I hope this helps people.~~

This script does what mine does but better:
https://kbin.social/m/kbinStyles/t/120887/Magazine-Hover-Subscribe-Block-Pop-up-v1-4

It also looks like user blocking is part of the pop-up when you hover over a username now, so no script needed.

I may revisit this for instance/domain blocking later, idk

https://lemmy.world/post/243178 - on kbin, the thumbnail for this post is showing furry porn, notably an image that appears nowhere in the article. Any idea what's happening there?

Theres https://browse.feddit.de/ and https://lemmyverse.net/communities that I know of for lemmy, anything similar for the kbin side of things?
