Jeremy Mitchell is an excellent duelist, and he should be proud of his top four finish! Here's the decklist of the Vanquish Soul deck he brought: https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/vanquish-soul-341777

This deck finished top 8, and was second after swiss! Due in no small part to Jessica Robinson's skills no doubt.

The Traptrix Cularia was a really smart inclusion in the side deck!!

As the decklists are released from World's, we can now see Steven Santoli's top 8 Firewall Mathmech build! What're your thoughts on the deck?

I appreciate that it's not exactly tier 0 at the moment.

I just did my own price list for this decklist that topped WCQ NA: https://yugiohtopdecks.com/deck/9712 (I find topdecks as a site to not be reliable when it comes to the cost of the deck, though this one was quite close, estimated at $245!!)

It came out to around $270!! When I consider all of the staples I already own (Triple Tactics Thrust being the big one, along with Triple Tactics Talent, 3 copies of Droll & Lock Bird, 3 copies of Evenly Matched, 3 copies of Gozen Match...), it seems like the cost to build the rest of this deck would be like $150. That's waaay cheaper than the "optimal" decks I've done price checks for.

Is there any better option than this for someone on a budget who wants a deck that's at least somewhat competitive right now?

Really, really clever stuff in the decklist here.

I've been trying to get back into the Yugioh TCG, and I made the mistake of building Rikka Sunavalon as my first deck.

I'm getting the hang of the combos, but my locals really aren't that competitive, and I feel kinda bad bringing such a try-hard, "watch me play" deck every week.

What's a more straightforward option that is still relevant in this latest format?

Edited: added that my question is about the TCG
