I wager they're so used to getting away with shit that destroying evidence probably says less about the crimes committed and more about the piss-poor justice system.

I've had similar experiences. Never posted questions myself, but I'll be Googling for help and find forum posts that are as toxic as you describe.

It's been bad enough that the Linux elitism on Lemmy leaves a bad taste, even if I haven't seen as much of the toxic parts here. I know I'm not the only person of my friends group that feels this way about Lemmy's Linux crowd.

Win 11 has a bunch of new small frustrations without anything crazy good that makes me want to recommend it over 10. It's... Just really unclear what benefits I'm actually getting from 11.

Ultra-right wing groups slowly taking over various branches of the government because roughly 30% of the population will always vote for them, no matter what.

Yeah, but I want a combo that force starts the feature. I want to pull out my phone and be able to blind start it, not stare at my screen to select the correct thing.

I would just keep working. UBI should be unlocking the ability for us to pursue our passions, hobbies, and mental/physical health. If I just gotta work anyways, I choose my current job.

Eh, you tend to learn how to make anything you do sound like huge success, regardless of whether it actually is or isn't.

Yeah, I've noticed that a bit lately anyways. Maybe I'm looking up stuff that has less of a community on Reddit, and thus has less discussion, but I have absolutely noticed some comments have a single product name-drop with little clarity for why they liked the product. It starts to feel like they're just ads (generated or otherwise) meant to trick you into thinking Reddit users are liking the product.

AI is going to just make it worse, and cause Reddit to not be a good goto for actual reviews and discussion on pros/cons.

Yup. Literally just pinch the bottom nub and it's open.

Unfortunately most people correlate pedophile and child abuser. It makes it hard for a pedophile who has done nothing to feel comfortable seeking help.

Yeah, of all the things google has done, rewrite "don't be evil" is really not one of them. Didn't their parent company also pick up the motto as well?

Yes, kinda. It's a go-to for white nationalist types to complain about a lack of diversity in opinions when they really mean they're mad everyone hates bigotry. They feel that all conversation is biased simply because the people don't seem to want to be haters as much as they are. So it's not really that they want more diversity, it's that they want the conversations to be diverse enough to accept their views.
