All I'm saying is that it's feasible, and very much in the interest of foreign powers to attempt to install people in positions of power. I think that's a very cold take.

I would argue it's a security issue. I think it would be quite feasible for some foreign power to scoop up some 20 year old with nothing to lose and put them to the task of infiltrating America. In fact, stuff like that has already happened: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegals_Program
Nowadays it's much easier to influence the public by just bombarding them with bs social media posts. Watch the documentary "The Great Hack".
