I do agree that the Internet is not inherently harmful, but 1 in 3 girls having a worse body image is not the super minor increase that the article states. That said, we should address it by itself because people feel bad about their bodies from all kinds of different sources, not just the Internet.

They are linked, but they're talking about how modern race ideas are evidenced in racism. It used to be that Irish people weren't considered white even though they largely have pale skin. Today that's a very weird idea because of course Irish people are white. But that wasn't the case when the US was getting a mass of immigrants. Yes, people were bigots hundreds of years ago. Yes, racism and tribalism are linked, but the sheer concept of being white, black, red, yellow, etc didn't exist until relatively recently.

As they are talking about writing essays, I would argue the importance of being able to do it lies in being able to analyze a book/article/whatever, make an argument, and defend it. Being able to read and think critically about the subject would also be very important.

Sure, rote memorization isn't great, but neither is having to look something up every single time you ever need it because you forgot. There are also many industries in which people do need a large information base as close recall. Learning to do that much later in life sounds very difficult. I'm not saying people should memorize everything, but not having very many facts about that world around you at basic recall doesn't sound good either.

As much as I like using cursive, it's not a necessary writing style and wasn't taught to me in elementary. I'm 32, so it's been out of the curriculum here for quite some time.

Most of everything is free for kids. What's your point?

No, we need Republicans to stop being obstructionist. We need Republicans to stop lying and actually govern rather than fap about with culture wars. Maybe you paid a little more attention to anything except the front page media, you'd know more about the inflation reduction act just passed, the constant lawsuits stopping student debt relief, and, how even though Biden personally is against abortion, he is still fighting for abortion rights

Wow... That's just nuts. I'm sorry, but seriously. With "I vow to kill any bill that a Democrat proposes" McConnell, lock step Republicans, and gerrymandering that ensures they don't lose their states, it's all Biden's fault. Uh huh.

Except a 39 week abortion likely doesn't exist in the way that you are suggesting. At that point, if a pregnancy needs to be ended, which is exactly what an abortion is, they induce labor.

No, it doesn't. Democrats in red states have a much higher likelihood of being closer to Republicans stances in order to get elected.

He was also taunting and threatening the FBI on his social media after he was told that they were monitoring it. Just because it's online doesn't make it not a threat. You're 100% right and I don't understand how anyone doesn't see this.

That's a very confusing run on sentence.

Maui’s firefighting efforts may have been hampered by limited staff and equipment.

Bobby Lee, president of the Hawaii Firefighters Association, said there are a maximum of 65 county firefighters working at any given time, who are responsible for three islands: Maui, Molokai and Lanai.

“It’s not that people didn’t try to do anything,” Curran said. “The fire went from zero to 100.” Curran said he had seen horrendous wildfires growing up in California.

But, he added, “I’ve never seen one eat an entire town in four hours.”
