It can be both.

Ah yes, let's police everyone's hair. Surely it won't matter when we decide your hair is unacceptable and you must change or leave.
Why in the world are you bringing up movies?
Except you did waffle. Children should be accepted, but not with life changing alterations. Is regular puberty not life changing for that child? Or does that not count because it's "normal"?
I don't know if you're a parent or not, but children have no fucking concept of gender unless you ram it down their throats. Let them be children.
Because what you're saying is basically "when did you decide to be gay?" My kids aren't like that.
But there's a line between actions with no repercussions and actions with permanent or unknown repercussions. The former shouldn't matter to anybody but them. The latter are important and require that the person have sufficient cognitive ability to agree to the consequences.
Sure, but letting a kid wear the age and weather appropriate clothes they want and calling them by a different name than their birth name is hardly a permanent decision. Puberty blockers don't start until much later after at least a year of therapy and presenting as the preferred gender, which again, not a permanent decision, and was a compromise for HRT. HRT doesn't start until later than that. Surgery isn't done by everyone and isn't done until you're an adult. I'm not really sure what you're arguing against here.
But your notion that it's impossible for a child to know they're trans, the only possibility is that it's forced on them is completely wrong, bigoted, and robs children of their agency. It's the exact equivalent of asking someone when they decided to be gay.
Is this a real question? There is in that the child can dress as the gender the want and go by the name they want.
Are we doing to pretend that making it illegal doesn't affect everyone else?
And yet, I can look up plenty of child marriages and plenty of child pregnancies that result in live birth. It's not like these don't happen.
And yet they say Biden has dementia because he has a stutter. The same stutter he's had his entire life. Why is a stutter a sign of mental decline?
I don't know his age, but don't hit kids. There's a better way to handle it.
But it doesn't block gender discrimination. Unless all girls are required to have pixie cuts.
