For Discord we have Revolt (almost a 1:1 clone) and obviously Matrix and XMPP.

Zorin OS and Linux Mint are the best distros for beginners, Zorin was the one that got me to use Linux as my daily driver, right now I use Fedora Kinoite, but I'm planning to switch to Zorin OS 17 when it releases on august this year.
