seems like Valve uses Arch

Seems like? Have you been living under a rock?

SteamOS 3 is based on Arch and was released 2022 with the Steam Deck.

Yeh, I know. This is as much of a reality check for me as it is for you.

I need to constantly remind myself that other people struggle too, they might just not show it.

It’s ok to have those feelings and to have that barrier. But peek over it from time to time, maybe there’s someone there peeking over theirs.

I feel you with everything you wrote. My theoretical take on “I’d feel bad for anyone I’d let close..” is that

  1. You might a better person than many, because many people do not think about the impact of their actions on others
  2. Everyone is doing things for themselves. Just be honest with them and yourself and try not to hurt anyone in the process as best as you can.
  3. It’s a very nice rationalization for not having to try at all. It’s easier to just mope by yourself :D

What to do with all of this? Who knows… The struggle is real.

Are you referring to the measurement objects I mentioned in the draw.io portion?

It’s extra work that I find unnecessary if the walls already are set to the correct dimensions. I would like to be able to just turn on/off the visibility. And also not have to edit 2 objects for the same measurement if anything changes.

I’m just looking for a simple 2D floor planner that is easy to use and has the ability to show measurements.

The two most recommended open source tools I’ve seen have shortcomings.

Sweet Home 3D:

  • Very 3D centric, which over complicates things.
  • Project was recently acquired/handed off to a company and the iOS version is published by “AI Photo Editor Lab SRL”

draw.io / diagrams.net:

  • Very finicky to set up and create floor plans
  • To display measurements one has to add measurement objects to every wall/object

Does anyone have other recommendations?

I guess I forgot things like Patreon which could be a valid option. Although I’m neither a fan of subscribing to specific creators nor am I particularly fond of Patreon.

With Nebula my perception is that I pay a monthly fee and they can figure out who gets what depending on whose videos I watched. I don’t need to be particular in my action on who to support.

And how are they going to make a living to keep producing videos?

I’d say ask them to join Nebula.

Search for and turn on “App Privacy Report” in settings and see what that brings up.

The 7000 papers were really well written. Unfortunately, 90% of the people I’d forward them to would be article…

I’m looking for a way to keep an eye on open source software I’m using, especially if there are detrimental changes. Like for example when there’s an acquisition (Raivo Authenticator) or the project has not been updated in a long time (potentially posing a security risk).

But I don’t want to have to read about every project, just the ones I’m using.

Anyone got any ideas?

Does anyone know why there are no dedicated Authenticator apps made by for example Proton or Bitwarden?

I’m aware that they have TOTP baked into their password managers but you still need to have at least one separate solution to log into your vault.

Is there a Lemmy app for iPad that has split screen like Narwhal for Reddit had? Post list on the left, content/comments on the right side.
