I feel like old people take most offense to being ignored in that case.

I'm a lot more optimistic (aka naive) than most it seems.

I'm really new to all this fediverse stuff, but I believe we can't lose what we already have, people that are here before Threads, will probably be here after Threads, since we already made that decision to leave reddit or twitter, to leave all that behind is a big social sacrifice.

My red line for Threads will be if they start to mess with the standards and the ActivityPub protocol, acting in bad faith.

So we're all pro federation and decentralization, until we aren't... I think this is a very preemptive and paranoid measure, but thankfully it will work out just as the technology was built for, some will block, some wont, everyone will make their choice, and be happy in their corner of the internet.

There's a reason nobody has to publicly announce who their voting for in democratic countries, and that there's no mechanism to check that. People can be grouped, ostracized, persecuted, canceled, or worse.

I'mma be honest, this might be the worst part of lemmy. NSFW, gray area topics, sports discussion, all that becomes completely radioactive.

I went for what I believe to be the bigger one, because it might get a higher quality of support from third parties, and still be here after a year.
