Its a horrid self fulfilled prophecy. No one wants to move because its small. Thus, it stays small. Sadly a lot of the migrations died because 1) a lot of people are not familiar with trying new tools and if they can't immediately grasp they will drop it and 2) no federation was ready for the original surge and thus all of them crashed a lot.

Funny enough, I am largely a lurker on most platforms! Sometimes the size of the community doesn't stop me from chatting because my special interest overrides the anxieties. I talked a lot on r/fanfiction!

As for how to appeal I really do not know. One of my favourite subreddits got sadly weird when reddit was removing mod and handicap assailable tools. They insisted they couldn't move because they would loose their culture, their community. As if what makes the community isn't the people, but the site itself. (Not to say how a site is structured can't be vital in how a community interacts with each other, because it super does!) But aside from reddit's size, it doesn't have anything that other federations don't have either.

Hello everyone. We’ve all blinked and now we are nearing the end of May. Some of us played with the Domaystic challenge. I’m surprised how much I’ve drawn for it. 20 prompts done out of 31. Though for some days I certainly drew more than one panel, so call that very evened out?

I hope the original errors that was making it hard for people to fediverse is settling down some. Love to be corrected if wrong, but this is the only fanfic place that has any sign of life in any fediverse I’ve seen! Is there anything that may help others feel more like chatting on here or is it largely just the tech issues and the very small/quiet crowd?

Goodness, I do miss the activity of reddit. I think it might be one of the reasons why I’m pining for interactions in the fandom of my latest hyperfixation when I usually am able to sit back and pretend it doesn’t exist. I was able to get my fandom community needs in a slightly more abstracted way.

I am not in the House of the Dragons fandom so it's all new/news to me. Don't know if there is anyone here who is who wants to talk about their experience with it within or outside of AO3?

absorb the words!

Despite the latest issues of life, a oneshot I started working on last week is nearly at 5k words. I just. I can't even. My brain usually struggles just to do 1k words in that frame. How.

Also now drawing things for Domaystic. That is less wild to me because. Well. Drawing has always been easier than words.

One day I'll get back to my main comic but not going to fight my brain on this. Riding this hyperfixation high for however long it will let me.

I'll say you needed the break. You've been dreading that chapter for a long time before it became the next chapter to post.

If I ever get a comment on an older piece it usually is because I've posted something else recently in a more active fandom. Despite seeing the easy logic it happens so rarely it still catches one off guard when it finally happens. Lovely to hear it happening to you!

The part of season 2 was such an upgrade jump from season 1 I'm trying very hard not to have higher expectations for the next set!

Finished that shipping week event with 2 late pieces but getting 5/7 prompts (with 2 of them being written onehots) is honestly way more than I expected of myself. Especially since my usual pace of finishing a 1k word oneshot is 3 months. This likely means said texts are a big mess but maybe people will be distracted enough by my doodles for the event? lol

Hoping to collab with a friend for Domaystic. As in will do some doodles to compliment their awesome writing.

All of this and haven't done a thing for my comic's anniversary. Well, not a complete lie. I have been working on the pages for this month. I just haven't gotten enough done to be able to post them. And as we know readers to be, working on something isn't the same as actually being done. But hey, still have some days left of this month!

This little place has gotten very quiet but hope everyone is ok. Please stay safe.

Ooooh. Yeah I have one last post for that pairing week too. As in, I'm just doing one more, not that I've nearly completed the prompts. 4 out of 7 is a passing grade right? Sour I couldn't pull myself for a sickfic. Always a sucker for that classic.

Best wishes to helping your brain navigate that duel! Can't remember if I've mentioned before, but would it help to find real life duelists playing with similar sets?

Domaystic! Got inspired by a certain WIP and wanted to draw the Driving oneshot but fuck fuck fuck getting any visual reference of someone driving that isn't just a damn profile is hideous. I could turn off visual safety and find some porn angle shots but my sex-postive part of my aroaceness falls apart as soon as reality gets involved. Ugh.

I won't have kids. I absolutely have taught other people's kids though.

If anyone has doubts that their idea is too niché to be read, my Squirrel Stapler/Slay the Princess oneshot has gotten 40 hits since I uploaded it some 20ish hours ago.

I cannot remember who introduced the Finished What You Started here, but that oneshot is my contribution to the event! I have so many other WIPs. I dared think I was going to finish a Pokémon piece or even a Sakuna: Rice&Ruin one I've had since last year. But nooooo (I say despite the fact we still have time left)

Also got to contribute to a week event! No way am I going to fulfill the whole week of prompts but it was so nice to find something I could play and contribute to.

Hope everyone is holding up. Please be safe!

Oh I hope that means you found your drawing tablet! (or was it your pen you lost, can't remember)

Exciting that the fic revival is still going strong!

Learning to draw new characters in both their original style and trying to decide how to translate them into whatever the heck mine is.

Been also drawing a bunch of comics that at best 2 other people will ever see. Should be preparing for my 5th anniversary for my main comic as some gracious readers have given me questions to play with for the QnA but brain isn't quite ready to return to that yet.

Hope everyone has had something nice happen to them this month and has something to look forward to the next~

Heck, and I love critique. I love being aware of what it takes to create the craft and calling out trash. But there is so much misinformation that people wield like a weapon happily.

Well, I don’t mind not getting (direct) engagement. My issue is people not seeing enough activity to feel its warrant enough to join. Enough people do it and it becomes self-fulfilled fate.

There is a particular community on reddit I love deeply but the idea of everyone migrating to a different platform was largely spoken of as if it was an act of betrayal. As if reddit itself was the entire reason the community was as it is instead of everyone who acts within it. I occasionally check in on it, but haven't been logged on for... I have no idea at this point hhhh

Yes my full list of favourites are at least 50 monsters if not 100 long.

In general fandom stuff on my own time, yes. It only took me over a decade to write the first fics for a stupid dinosaur game. No regrets there. But in reading your response a thought came to me to where some of my personal hypocrisy comes from? That pressure knowing how a lot of people will just not engage with something if they don't think they will get attention. Why people keep sticking to places like reddit instead of helping other sites grow.

The latest brain worm to grab me was what I was complaining about last week (or the week before?). The 2 musical animated series based in hell. The people who attack those for liking it and even fellow fans attacking each other for not liking things the right way. Usually I can roll with this but right now its at a particular pitchfork, fires with bandwagon stage. Obviously the smart answer is “wait to post and play after the trolls and purity police move onto something else” but that’s not how special interests work lol.

I’m glad!

speaking of doodles~

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (4 children)

I just meant in general, regardless of game use. Meganium and Galvantula are among my favourites but aren't great for a serious teams (I use them anyways <3).

More of, "I wished my schedule allowed me to dive into this more" + anxieties/hopes to finding safe places to be stupid about new favourite things. Also a way to keep better eye on challenges and events. Not a great feeling when something rare you are into had an event and you completely missed it lol.

I have no interest nor energy to update anything I'm on for a daily nor weekly bases. Despite the fact I compulsively doodle nearly every day and thus technically have "content" that could be shared. But no thank you. (If anything to start, I'd just be posting old work on Dreamwidth. Have to continue spreading my love of DinoRun to absolutely nobody lol)

Thank you kindly for your thoughts and well wishes.

Congrats on the restart! Pokémon is also one of my longest hyper-fixations. I love mythical dexes and monster raisers and that was one of the very few video games that had those elements that came to my country at the time. Which monster(s) is your favourite? (this question is open to everyone please I can happily talk about this for too long)

The world really feels like its falling apart. However somehow various distractions are helping me not completely drown in misery and finally work opportunities are cropping up. Yay?

I made a Dreamwidth account some time ago and proceeded to completely forget about it. I'd like to get it properly figured out brain, please.

Having a few meltdowns but of the expected neurodivergent sensitivities, so overall still avoiding that fog!

Not all comments are like that! Heck, just the other day got a beautiful one from a fellow comic creator~

Ah, that’s very true. Thank you for informing me. Just feels bad when people are trying to create communities away from the hells of the bigger sites but can’t.

Weekend roundup! What are you writing? Reading? Drawing?

TELL ME.

For myself I'm 2 pages away from finishing my latest comic! It's also dawned on me I need to upload 3 finished comics to my Ao3. Just need to set up the mirror for the images since, well, Ao3 can't directly host it.

A oneshot is in a sense completed but still needs tweaking so the words flow right. Its to a franchise I haven't written to before and going on my usual streak- seems like a rather dead fandom lol.

For readings I'll be hoping some of my bookmarks updated and also steadily chipping away at my Marked for Later list.

Very rough but wanted this magazine to have an icon! Based off of the popular kbin mascot designed by FixedFun and further tweaked by Minnieo. Tried to represent some of the big fandoms on here but this draft only ended up with 4.

Honestly I think it would be nicer to instead check in on everyone's main fandom for this magazine. Obviously if your fandom doesn't have a simple symbol it will be harder to apply. But I'd like to try!

Please, critique/suggest away!
