I recently had to play the game where my password manager generated a password with special characters, but they weren't the right special characters. Needed to manually swap each one out with an acceptable replacement

This is a fun take on the joys of creating passwords but I had to cut myself off when it required

I saw some ideas recently in a similar post: could try improving your skin care routine, wearing sunscreen, putting on body lotion after shower, paint nails, get ears pierced, etc. I'll try to find this other post I'm thinking of

Fwiw the captcha support in lemmy is probably going away soon. It needs to be reimplemented into another database table (or something like that) anyway. Given that it is too hard for many humans, too easy for many bots, and devs are slammed with work, makes more sense to delete as a first step

It took a lot of work to get PC parts to become interoperable. There's all kinds of special negotiations that happen at boot to discover the state of hardware. There are standard drivers for most peripherals

Mobile devices aren't expected to change hardware so everything is hard-coded into the ROM. No discovery protocols are supported. Standardized drivers make it hard to ship new features or squeeze every last bit of performance so no effort goes into making them

I came into this thread thinking that I want downvotes enabled, and now after reading some pretty compelling arguments I can see how disabled makes a lot of sense too. Hopefully this partial weight approach is a good balance between the two. Can always continue to iterate

I only host one service for myself: Navidrome on a raspberry pi zero. Lets me stream my full music library from anywhere. Been using it ever since GPM shut down

Aegis is amazing for authenticator codes! I love the backup/restore support. Never going back to Google Authenticator ever since my Pixel 3 bricked itself overnight and I lost all my codes

I recently switched to KISS launcher; it's a bit unorthodox but I like it a lot now that I'm used to it. AntennaPod is good for podcasting too
