Lovecraft short story, “The Music Of Erich Zann” (plot summary - blind old man plays viol to keep unspeakable eldritch horrors at bay) and drop in the word “Muzak” instead of music. Behold, a machine that plays E-Z listening kitsch to keep eldritch horrors shopping.
