It really feels like Filoni is struggling to adapt to live action filmmaking. You would think someone from animation would direct more dynamically and with a tighter rhythm but everything is so glacially paced. Which I don’t normally mind but this is supposed to be action adventure. I can’t tell if it’s the studio demanding they squeeze more runtime out of this to justify the budget for streaming or if he’s just so in awe of seeing his characters come to life that he wants to linger on them forever.

I’m glad that the show has steadily improved throughout the season. Im actually looking forward to new episodes now instead of watching out of a sense of ritual obligation.
The show’s casting has been very hit or miss for me. I love Mikkelson as the voice of Thrawn, but be doesn’t quite look the part and I kind of wish they had recast. Ezra on the other hand is terrific. I don’t know where they found this guy, but I bought him 100% from the jump and his reveal didn’t disappoint.
He’s kind of a legacy act at this point but his tours still sell like crazy and he’s had some pretty successful projects in the last few years.
PT had the athleticism AND the character work. It’s better than the OT but still feels like a regression to me.
I didn’t say ppl couldn’t enjoy this, I was just trying to articulate why I didn’t.
They should have kept the original title.
It is weird that she’s like 30 but still written like a teenager. What has she been doing this whole time?
If they do that they need to bite the bullet and recast Luke. We all love Mark, but the CGI face swapping tech is just not there yet, and arguably shouldnt be used anyway.
Go watch TPM again and tell me this is some of the best fight choreography in the history of the franchise. Better than the OT maybe.
This show has gone from D territory to C+ B- with this episode for me. It’s getting there but they’ve done a really bad job setting up the Ahsoka Sabine dynamic that is supposed to be at the center of the show, the fight choreography has been lackluster and I don’t really feel the stakes here. I watched all of Clone Wars and have been a longtime Rebels fan so I should be the target audience for this but I haven’t really been feeling it. Now, most Filoni shows have starred off wobbly and improved over time, the problem is this show only gets eight episodes to do it. Still, it’s gotten better and I hope that trend continues and we get a strong second half of the season.
Just watched this series recently. Kinda wish I’d waited instead of running ahead and finishing the manga.
The resolution to the Rutherford and Tendi subplot was interesting to me in that it made explicit the way that their easy familiarity with each other as best friends and coworkers is predicated on a blithe, willful obliviousness to any other romantic feelings between them. I’m curious to see how that plays out in future episodes.
