I have been rooting my phones since android 7. I like rooting my phone because

  • it allows me to block ads without a VPN or a DNS (AdAway)
  • I can install apps from fdroid like I am installing from google play store, I don't have to manually install an app.
  • I use NeoBackup to backup apps with app data. *I use revanced (I know I can use the non-root version but why install an extra app (microg) that runs in background).
  • I can disable tracking/telemetry of individual apps by disabling their activity component.

So, I would say rooting is a big deal for me and banking apps still works.

I have Infinix Hot 30. Currently using lineage OS GSI. GSI will work as infinix and tecno are devices by the same company.

There might be some speed improvement (not that noticeable). But I can control the modules more freely than mkinitcpio, so I like it more.

Artix (Basically Arch without Systemd)

I just have a super crappy laptop with a hdd. So speed difference is quite noticeable. On systemd, boot times were greater than 2 min (done everything I could in systemd-analyze). So, I switched to Dinit which is new and quite barebones also a tad bit unstable (sometimes crashed for me). It allowed under 30 sec boot times. Then, I tested all init managers. Currently, on runit which is about 2-3sec slower than dinit but otherwise quite stable. I just choosed based on speed nothing else. I didn't notice much difference in functionality. All allowed me to do all the things I wanted just in a different way. Artix linux allows easy switching of init managers

Tried everything in systemd-analyze and systemd-analyze blame. Still slow compared to dinit.

I used dinit, runit, openrc, systemd and s6 Dinit was the fastest.

Systemd is the slowest init system that I have used
