It's very complicated, but I think the jihadist picked them, not the other way around. They were fleeing the country like flies.

I'm going to do some reading about it soon, since it's been a while and everything is hazy.

Oh, we have sooo many more sauces. And our fries are really the best. Right across the border, in the Netherlands, they even have peanut sauce for fries. I tried it and it was shit.

There's always a need for architects. For such a small country, people here are always building and renovating. Maybe try it out first with an architect firm here? You can always send your CV to a few firms and explain you'd like the experience.

But really do your homework on where exactly you want to live. Flemish/Wallon/urban Brussels, the coast or Limburg? If you've already experienced Germany, it's a bit the same here.

That's why lobbying should be okay, but excepting money and/or goods or even a cookie is corrupt. There should be an ethics code or something and every prosecutor in the country should go after every single one of them.

I used to work for the government here in Europe. It was really emphasized that accepting gifts from the public is never acceptable.

Then I worked for a nonprofit that had 1 person who had ties to the government in our board and even there, when a client brought me wine because I helped house them (my job), I had to decline and explain why.

It was harder, because they were refugees and didn't understand. I said the gesture was appreciated and I gladly helped them, but it could be seen as corruption and would jeopardize the funding of my organisation.

Afterwards I was laughingly bitching at my boss and colleagues about how I had to say no to good wine and it was blasphemy. So I got a few bottles of wine every year for my birthday from then on.

Edith Eger, The Choice. I was really depressed at the time and didn't want to read about the Holocaust. Although it was gruesome at some points, it really touched me how much she's made of her life and how positive her message still is.

How can this be legal? Sorry I'm a real dimwit today. Maybe Americans should focus on getting rid of lobbyists with money first. That'll get rid of a lot of problems.

Mark my words, history will remember this. We can practically watch it live with social media and so on. Wars are different now, since Ukraine. So it hits closer home.

Just hold your cats, dogs or children if you have them, close, bury your face in their bellies and take a deep breath...it really helps.

It's hit and miss most of the time. I just tried Lemmy memes and it redirects to lemmy.ml and the memes community.

Then I tried Lemmy how do I wash my kitten and there was an answer. Again for Lemmy ml. I think it depends on whether there is a post answering the question and if people commented on it.

Yes, why didn't the US only sign but not ratify?
