All fair points. I don’t follow the whole no one should own one as put forward by a lot of people here. There is just a lot of people don’t need one. Know someone who drives a patrol from one side of Melbourne to the other side everyday as a commute to the office, one person no kids with no equipment , and they have another 4WD so there is no excuse there. My environmentalist mate has a land cruiser as that’s how he can explore our beautiful country, and rides a bike to work.

Saw an ad on Facebook for a ranger the other day, 2 years old 21k km, description read never been off-road, mainly used to go from home to the office. Was selling to upgrade to the new model.

Also I don’t believe these fancier utes are very suitable for actual work, to much precious body work and paint around the bed of the truck. We have some single cab utes at work, and what gets put on the tray I wouldn’t want to be doing on anything I cared about the looks of. Also the height to get to some of the trays is ridiculous.

They’re an invasive species, added by people who wanted to hunt them and surprise surprise we now have an issue.

Can you tell that I commonly come across this spot flooded and am becoming crankier with age?

Nothing new for that section. Part of the retaining walls have failed and leak water through when the river is high, pumps never keep up and turn off, and the council will continue not to do anything. The detour along the road next to it has been blocked off by wgtp for a while now, the second detour over the bridge over the railway line is blocked. It’s all a bit of a joke.

If I’m only planing to use once or twice I’ll see if my tool library has.

Otherwise Sydney tools / total tools just have better quality stuff, especially on consumables. Eg multitool bits from Bunnings are a waste of money.

I am. Not sure why given I didn’t comment much on reddit over my 10 years but the community here seems nicer so I’m more open.

End of last year Qantas emailed us that we had been moved to an 2hr earlier flight, giving us about an hour to get to the airport after the email. Had to argue with support that it wasn’t enough notice and we won’t be able to make it to the flight on time.

Had many errands to run this morning and meant to be at a mates place right now. However the tiler that was meant to come next week turned up this morning. Very tempted to send them away but I just want to get the job done and Gavin to stop dealing with traddies. Some traddies are just a different breed.

One of the replies I got says you can walk alternative routes and go through parks ect to get to the desired business. So instead of taking the most direct route past all the shops wanting my business I should walk the back streets through the non existent parks.

There is the upfield line path which I ride on a weekday but on a weekend it’s too congested

Sydney road local here. On the weekend we try to avoid going near Sydney road outside of direct walking distance as it’s miserable to drive, walk, cycle or catch a tram.

The trams are so slow due to cars, which causes them to be over capacity due to the infrequency of them turning up.

It is unsafe to ride a bike as you’ll get doored or you’ll get swiped by a cars changing lanes without looking.

Walking isn’t the most pleasant due to the amount of traffic on the road (noise and air pollution ect).

I shouldn’t be required to drive to go to a business 1.5km down the road.

When you are choosing a couple car spots over the business of your local communities you’re already losing.

Sydney road local here. In a gist local businesses are losing business to locals as it’s miserable on a weekend for any form of transport that we avoid Sydney road all together. Losing more business than a 2hr parking spot will give them.

I had a longer reply on reddit to this a couple weeks back if people are interested in me copying over.
