::: spoiler spoiler 16: Frivolous Tumult

You no longer have to risk seeing porn on your frontpage just to participate here! Yay?

The reason I switched NSFW on was to protect you from accidental spoilers. The Lemmy platform does not have a native spoiler image tag yet, and I thought if the whole community was NSFW, then the image blur would apply automatically on new posts, similar to how AutoModerator spoiler tags all new posts on Reddit.

What I wasn’t counting on was app support, or lack thereof. Some apps ignore the NSFW tag altogether, the answers don’t get blurred regardless, so the tag is pointless.

Worse, other apps don’t show NSFW communities at all, not unless you dig into their settings, and they each handle things a little differently. I couldn’t figure out how to get here on some apps at all.

I also think being NSFW lowered our visibility on the platform as a whole. It makes sense that if most people hide NSFW by default, they’d never even know we exist.

So for all these reasons, I decided to uncheck NSFW for the whole community again.

That said, please do continue to mark your screencap submissions NSFW so you get some blur support at least. It may not be consistent across apps, but it’s the best we can do until Lemmy implements a proper image spoiler flair.

Thank you for reading, and I hope this makes the community easier to use going forward. Happy two-solving!

Let’s try that again… (self.letterboxed)

So I tried to enable NSFW-tagging on images so we could hide the answers on the front page…

But apparently that wipes all previous posts from the community. >.<

No warning or anything, just gone!

Oh well. Take two, I guess.

If you post your answer as a screencap, you can now use the NSFW tag to hide the solution on the front page.

If you post as text you can use the ready-made spoiler tag.

spoilerIt will look like this if you’ve done it right.

Enjoy!

Say could that sub be r/Outlander?

So as you’re probably aware, Reddit is doing away with awards. All accounts will be zeroed in September.

This is on top of killing all 3rd party apps last month.

The company seems hell bent on destroying itself, and it would be a shame if our community died along with it.

So that’s why this Lemmy exists. :)

Obviously it’s quite bare right now, but hopefully as Reddit continues to bleed users, our fandom can find a new home here on the federated internet.

Slàinte!

Very good idea, and I absolutely want to do that, I just don’t know how!

Does Lemmy have a rules wiki? CSS support? Anything analogous to AutoModerator? Scheduled posts (if we decide to do a Rewatch here)?

I am a total noob, so if there is some kind of guide around here please send me a link.

Nope, you’re dead!

Or digital, anyway…

Have you ever watched random episodes out of order?

I do that with Community occasionally, and it definitely holds up. I haven’t tried it with TGP though.

Just the once, for the Rewatch on the sub. We flew through the whole series in anticipation of Mike Schur’s AMA. :)

If there’s interest maybe we could do a communal Rewatch on here once all the dust settles. What do you think?

Welcome and thank you for joining. :)

I am brand new to this platform, so if you have any tips or advice or a guide or anything, lol, it would be very much appreciated!
