Antiques memes roadshow is pretty good, too, for that sweet nostalgia dopamine magic.

Yes, I saw that one the other day! Love the vintage memes. :)

You know on Lemmy I find myself cruising the main page more than anything. It’s actually fun without the bot spam and algorithm shenanigans that ruined r/All on Reddit years ago.

Also a good way to find new stuff you never considered before. Lmk if you find anything neat, too!

[–] WandersFar 1 points 1 year ago

Haha, don’t worry, I figured it out, everything’s okay.

I didn’t have NSFW turned on in my personal settings, that’s why it looked nuked.

But once I enabled it, everything came back.

I think Lemmy will auto-blur all solution images from now on, too, which is nice.

Anyway I updated the sidebar to tell everyone to turn on NSFW in their preferences; but we may have to remind newbies since it’s not immediately obvious what’s going on!

Okay never mind, I’m a moron.

It only wiped everything for me because I didn’t have NSFW enabled! 🤦‍♀️

So everything is working normally, you just have to enable NSFW in your personal settings to view the community now. I’ll edit the sidebar to make that clear.

Oh my god. I enabled NSFW for the whole Lemmy so screencaps could be blurred and I think it deleted all posts on the front page!

But at least image spoiler tagging should work from now on. -.-

Okay, thanks for lmk.

I just went back and NSFW’d my previous solutions, sorry about that, and I’ll make NSFWing a rule on the sidebar.

There’s no u/AutoModerator here so I can’t set up auto-spoiler/NSFW-tagging here, but hopefully if people see the rule, they’ll do the right thing.

Without NSFW, does it show the actual words for you in the thumbnail? On both my phone and my computer it doesn’t, it just shows the letters with the zigzag pattern. I only see the answers when I open up the full image.

NoNot that I know of. But on my phone at least the thumbnails are so small it doesn't give away the answer. Let me know if it's different for you.

Using NSFW is a clever workaround! If it becomes an issue we could all just use that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Look out for affixes. For example, the past tense of most verbs ends in -ed. And many words also begin with the prefix de- so if you’ve got a d, that’s a decent place to start building your solution around.

Ditto for s, which is the most common plural suffix.

My personal strategy is to first take stock: How many vowels and liquids (L & R) do I have; are there any weird consonants to manage? (Q, W, Z, X, V)

I try to get as many of the difficult letters as I can in my first word, then build the second word out of the easier leftovers. The anchor letters (S & D as described above, among others) are key to connecting the words.

Welcome!

Lemmys use the /c/ as a divider, so I think they’re just called communities.

Gorgeous case & lid / wrist rest. What did you use for key blockers?

The comments timed out twice for me before it would load on Jerboa. That’s just perfect. 👌
