This is absolutely the best way to approach it, consistency is what wins the battle. You have an event or a meal that you can't track? Afterwards just stay the course and keep going. You did track it and it was waaaaay over your calorie budget? Afterwards just stay the course and keep going. You can be successful by just staying on track for more time than you're off it and that's actually very forgiving, it gives a lot of leeway.

Generally any produce I can get at the local farmers market; it's just so, so much better than anything in the grocery store.
Some specific foods that just scream "summer" to me are tomato sandwiches, watermelon, and grilled corn.
Give us "normies" a little credit. I'm not technical minded AT ALL and I'm still willing to stick around and figure out how this shit works. Do I understand it? Hardly. Does the app I'm using (Jerboa) work? Barely. (Although today's new release has improved it greatly, thanks guys!). But I'm still floundering around here and it's a bit frustrating. I'm still going to give it a go though. I'm confident that improvements will come that make it easier here for everyone like me that uses the internet a lot but doesn't really understand the internet that much.
But maybe I'm just willing to stick it out because I was only looking for an excuse to leave Reddit and the means to do so. I admit I don't really care about the recent debacle, I just miss the old Reddit of 10-15 years ago and I don't like what it's become (a place full of memes, TikTok videos, dumb jokes, and hardly any real conversation anymore). It took this most recent fiasco for people to start talking about alternatives and that's when I finally learned about the fediverse and made the move. It has been a lot easier to leave when I knew where I could go.
To me the simple life is not as much about consumerism (how much I have/buy vs how much I don't have/buy), it's more about a state of mind; I strive to keep my life uncomplicated in order to lead a more peaceful and contented life. That means shutting down drama and toxicity in my personal life, maintaining order in my professional life, and being grateful/thankful for life's little pleasures like being outside in nature, cooking myself a delicious meal, playing my favorite song on the piano, or watching my plants grow and thrive.
Fellow plant enthusiast here, thanks for the link to your instance!
I would love to see GolfGTI spring up over here.
Woohoo, another SD local! I'll definitely join in the Padres community, just as soon as I figure out how to find it... (I'm still learning and still a bit confused)
Neat link, thanks!
This is my first experience with fediverse, I had never even heard of it before. So far it's going okay, there are some things I wish were different or easier, but maybe that's just because it's new and feels clunky because I haven't figured it all out yet.
In general though I am enjoying Lemmy so far, it feels like being on internet message boards back in the old days (20-25 years ago)!
I agree that this will be a fun evolution to watch!
Your picture isn't showing up for me :( I also haven't been able to use the app yet, I downloaded it but no matter what button I press on the screen it just keeps telling me I need to "login first" and I can't log in anywhere...
I hope that button gets implemented, that would be perfect!
