They take all the land, water, and government handouts and then cry that single moms on food stamps are ruining the country.

I've just had some pretty good nights in just me, a bottle of wine, and a movie

Howdy Arabia is a police state hellscape. I cant wait for my parents to retire and move back up north so i never have to go back to that hellhole ever again.

I'm still so crunched with time between my new job and making goodies tongive out ffor the holidays, so I'm sorry i haven't beem contributing much this month. I've been doing olenty of baking, such as the 8 hours i spent baking Christmas cookies with my neighbors, or candying oranges and lemons to give out as well. I rven made hypoallergenic dog treats this afternoon before i made this peppermint bark!

Originally i thought i would just wimp out and make tried and true buckeyes, but i knew i should try something new, and yall have seen me make buckeyes before.

A super easy recipe and finally an excuse to use the chocolate mold i bought several months ago! I elected to go the double boiler route instead of microwaving the chocolate and wpuld recommend that to anyone trying this themselves. You just end up with a more uniformly melted chocolate that behaves better. I'm glad i went with the mold instead of traditional pan barkbecause it breaks the bark into uniformly sized pieces with a perfectly cream texture with a bit of snap thanks to the candy cane chunks inside.

A friend in college discovered you could open beer cans with a can opener so he drank open top Old Mils for an entire semester

He wasn't better, he just had more legitimatacy since he was the party leader during the last election. Hell, Sunak resigned from said government before Johnson resigned. That's why there were calls for a new election after Truss resigned, but the Tories refused because they knew they would get clobbered at the polls.

Man i absolutely destroy my neighbor's kids in Mario Kart. Years of playing Beerio kart in college have made me an absolute monster at house parties.

Sure, but Sunak wasnt even the second choice for the Tories during the last election. He's in the Gerald Ford grey zone where no one feels like they voted for him, making him seem illegitimate. The British public voted for the Tories in 2019 (because they are morons) with the expectation that Boris Johnson would be in charge. Now the head of the party has resigned twice since then. In theory it'sall standard procedure for Parliament, but it's a clearly unstable government and viewed as a farce at this point.

I'm 100% never going to download an app for a restaurant. I atopped getting my free World Series Taco from Taco Bell the year they required the app.

Week 48: Cobblers (midwest.social)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there! I've been so busy starting a new job that i havent had much time for baking. But we are having a thanksgiving potluck tomorrow so i decided to take on a bunch of stuff at once! Had to do a challenge this month, have to do all my Thanksgiving prep today because i am working tomorrow and Thursday so i won't have time, and I gotta make a good impression on my new co-workers! Tomorrow morning I'll whip up some fresh whipped cream!

I still have 2 more small cobblers in the oven as I write this up, as all the small ones will be going to friends around town for them to share with their families as well.

Honestly, who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma?

Went off of this recipe only i used a roind cake ring instead of a square one. I'm not happy with how the carmalized hazelnut crunch turned out, as it became way to solid, and the glazing didnt want to stick to the sides of the cake, but all the flavors were absolutely amazing?

I'm not much of a bread guy, but figured i would give some brötchen a go! My currywurst is pretty lackluster, but the brötchen is awesome! I added about a teaspoon of ground mustard to it to give it a bit extra German umf and i am incredibly happy with it! The beer is Frankenmuth Oktoberfest out of Frankenmuth ❌ichigan. The stein is from Twin Oast Brewery out Catawba Island Ohio. Their Oastoberfest is my favorite Oktoberfest around here and I have been going for several years now.

Proast! Have fun, and be safe!

I've been doing the 52 weeks of baking challenge all year and decided to do buckeye cupcakes for the cupcake challenge. Matches up perfectly with the huge OSU/ND game tomorrow, so go Bucks!

These chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter icing, dipped in chocolate ganache have a delicious homemade buckeye sitting right on top! If you love peanut butter, its a treat for you! But be warned that making buckeyes can be a tedious endeavor.

Furthermore, go Buckeyes and beat that team up north!

For the non-English among you, Pimms is a botanical, gin-based liqueur. A Pimms cup is the perfect summer cocktail with bright citrus flavors if the liqueur being brought out by the cucumber, lemon, and mint in the drink. There is a lot of variation on how people make their own Pimms Cup, but my Geordie mother always make a pitcher with plenty of ice, ginger beer, cucumber and lemon slices, with a mint leaf for garnish. We are experiencing the summer's last hurrah here in NW Ohio so i figured it would be a perfect time to go a Pimms cake!

I based it off of this cucumber cake recipe but added a few twists to make it a Pimms cake. The cake has a teaspoon of ginger powder and a tablespoon of molasses to represent the ginger beer, a splash of peppermint extract in the icing, and i subbed out the gin for Pimms No. 1. I recommend a quarter teaspoon for the peppermint extract in the icing. I used half a teaspoon but it was too strong and overpowered all the interesting flavors of the Pimms No. 1 in the icing. Maybe next time I'll put the peppermint extract in the cake and put the ginger powder in the icing. Either way, it's an excellent summer snack for the adults!
