"He tells it like it is"

Our lead-poisoned parents may have bought into that crap. But we know all that is is stubborn arrogance. And solving problems requires open-minded thinking and chasing the problem, not the messenger/customer/employee.

Yeah. It's like when people tell me I just gotta move on after my ex called out of the blue and said stuff so mean, I had to block her number.

I try not to obsess about it. But (in our analogy) it was only a week ago. I'm still going through the stages of grief.

Realistically:

I'll run around yelling and screaming and waving my arms. In my panic, I'll likely do nothing and the switch will remain unadjusted in ALL scenarios.

Yeah well, it's a fucking genocide.

Ignore their reasonable critiques of your recent royal decisions and instead insist that you aren't backing down, even if the pawns are setting the chess board on fire and leaving the game. Start praising other kings to make yourself look good b by association.

Guess that's why I don't see any. Jerboa for the win!

In fairness, it is a cool story.

But it's just a story. That was the problem.

Internet since nineteen-ninety-seven, and this federated stuff really brings back a little bit of that magic network of yore

There is something raw about it that's refreshing. Sort of like finding "a guy" down at the harbor who sells fish, rather than buying it at Walmart.

Musk, Trump, Spez etc. represent an attractive basic human dream:

Being able to do whatever I WANT whenever I WANT without consequences

Educated people are wise enough to know this is actually hell. Feedback and accountability keep us on our toes and teach us new knowledge. Kites cannot fly without strings.

But Elon (et.al) are too childish to realize this.

Due to permits, land costs, underground parking structures, and all sorts of bureaucracy... It costs the city of Los Angeles $550,000 per homeless person to house.

Why not order a bunch of these from GM? Some TMobile wireless home wifi and a power hookup and I'd be set.

I could live pretty comfortably in one of those!

LOL

For those who don't know the story, here's an old BYU urban legend:

When BYU arrogantly decided to open a Jerusalem Center, they sought approval from the Israeli government. They are suspicious of new churches opening up stuff there, because already the city is already a holy site for like 3+ billion people. And there's a lot of fighting.

BYU reassured that the center was not a holy site and promised NO proselytizing from it (which they've reasonably adhered to).

But the legend says that an Israeli official, speaking of Mormons was suspicious, and asked "What about the light in their eyes?"

The legend playing into the puritanical "city on a hill" LDS so love to believe in. That LDS people were so wholesome, simply a look into their eyes was a proselytizing effort.
