You have no idea what you are talking about. Rent has more than doubled. I know people living in shitty 1 bedroom apartments who pay more than twice what I pay for my mortgage on a fairly average house.

So other countries have socialized education, and they manage to have better results than our for-profit education system, and that somehow proves that our schools suck and should receive less funding, even though our schools have corporations sucking most of the money out of the system?

The republican party has never been about fiscal responsibility. Every time the economy crashes, it's the result of republican fiscal policies of spend like crazy but lower taxes so we can't afford to pay for it. The only thing republicans are "conservative" about is social issues like should LGBTQ people be allowed to live.
They cross the rope bridge going over the Rio Grande and then cut the rope once they're across. The amount of hate I've seen Mexican immigrants direct at Mexicans trying to immigrate is mind blowing. So it's no wonder that they flock to the republican party.
It will only last a few more years, but in the near-ish future the problem will take care of itself. (They're both very old)
At the end of the day, you are required to either eat a shit sandwich or a stale chocolate chip cookie.
