Exit = vacate... Vacation...

Californication?

  • Covid
  • Ebola
  • 9/11 and the "war on terror"
  • The cold war
  • WW2
  • WW1
  • a whole host of other things before that

The world has felt like it's ending to a lot of people for many generations, yet somehow it never does. I'm not denying that the world is in a pretty awful state right now, but we have to hope things will get better because otherwise they never will.

... My vacuum actually does run Linux.

!It's a roborock with Valetudo installed so it doesn't need internet access!<

The original switch also had an option with grey joy cons

The average person has a 1tb+ drive and doesn't care about a few hundred megabytes of bloat in a partition they will never look at. If someone is switching from Windows, every app having its dependencies self contained is mostly normal anyway (aside from the occasional system provided dll). The only people likely to care about removing old flatpak platforms are the kind of people who don't mind running the command to remove them.

Remember: If they can use ANPR to send you a large fine, they could just use it to charge you for the parking in the first place. The only reason they don't is corporate greed.

For web, use Firefox (or a Firefox based browser, such as Zen) with uBlock Origin and sponsorblock extensions.

For Android, use YouTube ReVanced (has ad blocking and sponsorblock built in)

For Android TV/FireTV/Google TV use Smarttube (also has ad blocking and sponsorblock built in)

If you're on iPhone/iPad/Apple TV you're still out of luck as far as I'm aware.

Everyone seems to forget that Google did exactly the same thing with Alphabet... And then continued to just keep putting all their products under the Google name anyway

Except that's not the issue. This clearly reeks of the passwords not being hashed

Since I started using Lemmy, I've wondered if a federated dating platform could ever work. Obviously you would have to solve the problem of low user numbers though...

We have redefined it. The thing about language is no one controls it. If enough people want to call 2000 the start of the new millennium, then that's when it was. It's all arbitrary numbers anyway.

I want you to imagine something for a moment. Don't just read it, really visualise it.

In front of you stands a girl, she's 14 years old. Her body and mind are broken as a result of months of rape and abuse at the hands of sex traffickers. With no other option, she gives birth in a filthy ally and is forced by her circumstances to do one of the most heartbreaking and dispicable acts imaginable - let her baby die.

Are you seriously saying you would look this child in the eye and tell her it was her fault? That she is the one to blame? That she should be punished for what she went through?

This is the level of desperation and suffering the people who are resorting to this are experiencing. This is the sick reality for people, probably closer to you than you realize.

So maybe think for while next time you want to start talking about who's "morally obligated" to do things.
