A link to The Garden would be helpful. :)

Small world! I didn't realize! ๐ Thank you for the tips, though! I'm still definitely getting up to speed with finding/linking communities.
I'm finding that often (not always), the little submit icon just never stops spinning. I can open the page in a new tab or browser, and the comment is there, so obviously it did finish submitting, but in the original tab/window, it just spins forever.
To be honest, this sums up a lot of issues the entire Discovery series has. If we leave out certain Season 1 plot points that annoyed some people, then the biggest thing people commonly criticize is all the emoting in the middle of battles/negotiations/strategic movement by just saying "character cries too much" or "too much emo drama". I think you've clearly pinpointed the root cause of that.
A friend of mine also speculates that the new shows have an even harder time with character development than older shows, because they have far fewer episodes per season. When you have 10-15 episodes (instead of say, 26), and you limit character development to snippets in the middle of action, well, then you get Star Trek: Discovery's tendency to annoy long-time fans.
I also agree that fewer "the galaxy/civilization/life is ending" plots and more variety would make the show far more enjoyable. Some of the best episodes of older Trek shows were about mostly a single character, or single world, or single issue.
Seems weird that more Kbin instances aren't listed on Kbin.pub. You go there, and it seems like you have 5 choices of instances to go to.
Is "Magazine" just a community/subreddit/forum? I took a quick look at Kbin and found the terminology odd. I would have expected something called a "magazine" to combine communities or something, but I couldn't otherwise find any communities on Kbin.
Oh, this is not good. Now, I might need to pay more attention to this. I was just getting sort of settled into Lemmy, as well.
I never encountered the term "Tanky/Tankie" until yesterday, here, on Lemmy. I'm just trying out a bunch or Reddit alternatives and some fediverse stuff. I mean, some of the founders of Reddit aren't my kind of people, and I've been over there since it was founded. If they're not doing something extremely horrible, then meh.
Well, TIL a new word: tankie.
I managed to get a single swamp milkweed plant last year (local garden center was selling out of them). I'm happy to report that it survived the winter, and has come back this year larger than before! I hope I can add to it this year.
