Keep in mind that the more power we give up to conservatives now, the less likely it is that you'll ever have a chance to do that further down the line. Aoc is backing the future of the world right now, but also her political future. The last conservative presidency did a LOT of damage to this country, if only by installing the justices who would go on to overturn Roe V Wade. She doesn't want to see more of that damage, and neither do you.

I go to the movies at least once a week. This is one of the few cases where the subscription is where it's at. 25 dollars a month gets me three movies a week. I usually only see one but that nearly pays for itself the first week. It's great!
I had a Adobe subscription for Professional stuff and they charged me an early termination fee when canceling. There are SO many free alternatives and with this policy they've ensured that I use all of them and never ever Adobe ever again.

Honestly the best thing about this entire situation has been the impetus to try new sites that it's provided. I didn't even know lemmy or mastadon existed and I only really used reddit so that I could still have something to do after leaving Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. This has all been really interesting and refreshing and makes me want to just keep exploring lemmy and mastadon while also looking for new outlets of connection and expression. No matter what reddit does, it can't really offer me that. But I will always appreciate how their fuck up sent me down that road.

Social media can be pretty toxic by default. Even here and on mastadon you're going to see some of the same shit you saw on reddit and Twitter. The thing is, we chose that toxicity. We were aware of it and that it was created by our community and we went ahead with interacting with the sites because it was ours to choose. Then the people who ran the sites brought in their own toxicity and shoved it down our throats. We didn't want that. That wasn't choice. So we've moved on to spaces where we have choice again.
