If you watched the vote, there was a message. The new rules say that 9 Republicans only can file a motion to vacate the speaker's chair. The original vote had 7 Republicans not voting and 3 voting for others. At the end, when members could vote who haven't, the 7 voted for Johnson and 2 of the three who voted for others eventually did as well. This was a message to Johnson. There are more than 9 Republicans who could vote for a motion to vacate.
If I remember right, history says the flags were at half staff during Nixon's inauguration, due to the death of Truman. Nixon didn't make a fuss about it.
Edit for all those responding below: Of course, Nixon was a WWII veteran, serving in the Navy in the Pacific. Known as the fleet's best poker player, but that's another story. As such, he also served under Truman who ended the war by dropping the bomb. Conjecture is that the troops appreciated Truman's decision. In the end, Nixon respected Truman. Trump respects no one.
