So, in order to subscribe to those communities I should create another account in a different instance that either has them or is federated with them, right….? Any workaround for that? This sounds like it’s going to be a real chore to follow and will push a lot of people out of lemmy in general Edit: As it seems some people don't understand, this is not a threat, just a fact. It doesn't matter the justification, doesn't matter that lemmy.world is run by volunteers, it doesn't matter that it's piracy (or weed, or shrooms...) that's blocked. It will be a chore for everybody to have to manage multiple accounts in different instances and that will push people away from lemmy in general. Reddit wasn't important because of it's technology, it was the massive userbase and the content that provided. Pushing people back into reddit will harm lemmy and the fediverse. And all for those comunities which didn't do more than just saying "this game has this DRM" or "there exists a cracked version somewhere for this game".

One thing is to see a massive stadium half-empty, but an almost empty barn is just sad, and DeSantis should feel sad.

I always thought that VPN (or any other means of hiding your IP) is a necessary but not sufficient step to prevent online tracking. Is this not correct? I don't think that using GChrome with a VPN will do much, in the same way as using hardened browsers without VPN will do much. It might depend on the thread model.

I haven't seen Nord being recommended in a privacy focus forum in forever. Not sure about their relationship with law enforcement, but I had the understanding that they would benefit from selling your data. Might have to research a bit more before my protonvpn renewal comes.

This site might just solve the main issue I had with discoverability in Lemmy, thanks!

Let's keep the upvotes to the post/comment only, do not show the overall of a user and don't take it into account in any algorithmic decision. Let community managers see the 'karma' of the user in their respective community maybe, but beyond that it's a feature that only had negative implications on Reddit

Wish you luck! I tried that for some other product, they told me that aside from tax I had to pay a fee that was much higher than the total cost.

*Laughs in European. Cheapest I found was 65 euros 'with free shipping'. I regret going for a Chinese band instead for the same total cost due to the 'overpaying' fallacy.

Thanks! It now makes sense. I still have an issue where I can't paste a screenshot directly (I can paste the file, but I can't just take the screenshot and paste it as is) but it's now much more convenient at least.

I have installed a few chat applications through flatpak (teams with Edge and "Whatsapp for Linux"). In both cases I can't paste images or drag files. I can paste text and I can upload files through the GUI. I imagine this is likely due to a permission that can be set through Flatseal. Anybody can help?
