Nothing wrong like others have mentioned. It sounds like this is for a robotics class so personally I wouldn’t spend time trying to get rid of them, it’s not a minor change to eliminate them

If you wanted to or want to look into it just to understand, you could do something like having each student work on separate branches that starts from main, then instead of pushing to the main branch they could create a pull request to merge their work back to main, and use a squash commit when closing that PR (this is the important part to get rid of the merge commits). In that way, there’s no divergence on main, main is like the trunk of your tree and everything else is accumulated / returned to main.

It is definitely a skill that would help the students if they end up in real world engineering roles using git, but personally I think that’s a lot of extra complexity for a non problem.

Jet Assisted Takeoff - The gif is Fat Albert which is part of the Blue Angels. There was a plan to use jet-assisted landing and takeoff to rescue hostages in Iran but it wasn't used after a failed test of the landing jets.

For the easy option / question - do you have bitlocker enabled? That’s not enough?

Do you want the encrypted folder to be automatically-unlocked or unlocked with a password

You can build your own Linux kernel for WSL, I haven’t done it and unless that sounds like fun to you that’s not the route I’d go.

A lot of stuff came together in the last season. If you’re curious how it all ended it’s worth a watch. I can see not liking the major changes heading into it, but still felt worth watching for explaining some things that still weren’t resolved heading into that season.

Are there any alternatives for people with gluetun allergies?

It depends how they clone it. I’m assuming now your 250gb drive is c, 1tb drive is d. After the cloning if you want the 1tb to be c and 2TB to be d, just tell them what you want and they should be able to make that happen.

For a bit more technical info, you also have a small EFI partition (unless this pc is very old), probably on your 250gb drive. This partition is what your computer boots from initially. When windows is installed it writes information to that partition, both initial boot binaries but also information about where your windows partition is. When they clone the 250gb drive they’ll also clone that partition, and depending on the method they use to clone, that pointer from efi will either not need to be modified, or they’ll fix it with tools called bcdboot and bcdedit. Bcedit has some read-only commands but I wouldn’t suggest messing with either, just mentioning them if you’re curious to read about them and understand the process a bit more
